Help with a 16750

Hi all,

I have just bought a 16710 all black bezel. However, I have always wanted a pepsi and this has been offered to me.

According to my research, it is a very early MK1 matte dial 16750 from 1981. It looks good to me. The hands are slightly corroded but I have been told this is completely normal for this era of watch.

I will be inspecting tomorrow and hopefully purchasing it. Does anything look out of place or non-original.

All opinions are appreciated

Pics are from all over the place. The first 3 photos are from when the seller purchased it from a well-known dealer.

You know the bezel inserts are swappable on your 16710, right?

Yes I do but I have always been a fan of the vintage GMTs. I can sell my 16710 and essentially "straight swap" with this one (don't need to add cash etc.)

I don't see any issues except for the hands which was already mentioned. I would expect a red-back insert on a 1981 model.

Thank you springer. I was hoping you would chime in. In your experience, do the corroded hands devalue the watch significantly?

I think you should keep your 16710 and get a genuine pepsi insert. The 3185 is a great movement.
