AP Royal Concept GMT vs Richard Mille 011-02
At this moment these two might be a little bit out of reach but it is something i can start saving for during the 1st half of 2018. Until recently, I was not a big fan of RM but they have grown on me. I have always liked AP and own 3-- the ROO chrono, 15407 and RO Chromo-Pride of Italy. i do not own a tourbillon and the AP tourbillons have turned me on for some time. I am just starting to ponder perhaps a future purchase. I would even consider trading in my ROO chrono as I do not wear that one as often as the others. In terms of RM === there are a lot to choose from and I mention the RM011-02 as one I am attracted to. I prefer titanium to ceramic in both the AP and RM models I would consider.
Appreciate any comments. |

The AP is much more expensive but if I had the funds I would choose this over the RM. No question, easy choice.
I’ve worn both watches, the RM at the AD and AP on an AP golf day. The AP is just cool and not as recognisable as the RM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd have to tell you go RM.
I owned the GMT Tourb for a awhile and ended up letting it go for another RM. The GMT tourb is fantastic, but the concept line is just too large for me and not nearly as comfortable. I'd also add caution to the wind about buying AP's at this price point. You better love them or buy them right, because they take serious hits on resale. There isn't a huge market for these pieces. Between the two I prefer the look of the RM.

Aesthetically I love both, but AP concept case is ergonomically very bad and you need large wrist and specific shape to make it look and wear right... on other side ergonomics and comfort of RM cases is out of this world...

While I love the AP, I've tried both on and the AP concept is simply not comfortable while the RM just feels so good on the wrist. Over and above that you get more choice with RMs

of those two, RM hands down. At those prices I highly doubt most would be swayed by price vs aesthetics and to me the RM wins that. Maybe a tourbillon vs tourbillon would be a more fair comparison price wise.
AP has much more desirable tourbillons than this concept though. To me at least. |

Neither for me, not my style, I'd rather have a PP PCC at over £100K.

At that sort of value I think I'd opt for the ALS Zeitwerk Striking Time. Its definitely a possibility for me in the future - if and when I become comfortable on spending that sort of money on a timepiece.

I have a small wrist but i thought the curve on the AP would make it more ergonomic and easier to wear. Hearing that is not the case..

ive heard the RM is more comfortable, but ive never had a chance to try it on. Im pretty sure in london they sell them as a package deal when you buy a supercar and the botique doesn't stock them. Sort of like when you have to buy a PM rolex to get a daytona. I see them quite frequently in knightsbridge, and always attached to the wrist of someone driving a supercar.

John I'm interested to know what you consider to be a serious hit? In the U.K. an RM 11 is about £120k but on the secondary market (I.e watchfinder) they are listed at around £75k so I'm guessing the prior owner sold for min 15% less than that, maybe 20%. I agree RMs are very cool but the idea that they hold their retail price is bonkers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have been moving in and out of RM for the last 3 years with basically no loss. In fact, I have made money on some pieces. It all depends on the model and the price you buy at, but RM demand right now is through the roof and supporting MSRP price. I can't say the same for the Laptimer and GMT Concept AP's, both of which I got crushed on. JPS

Well you have some cool, hard to find pieces that's for sure and maybe that's why you're doing favourably on resale. For now I'll continue to live vicariously through your incomings, maybe one day I'll have an RM incoming of my own. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I certainly won't disagree that RM has it's own share of dogs too, you just have to know what you're buying.

RM...though I don’t see either gracing my wrist any time soon!

Of those two I'd pick the RM. RM is much more ergonomic, while the Concept is pretty awkward on the wrist.
If it was my money to spend though, I'd personally would put it on a Patek 5270. |

The RM in this case. Not a fan of concept. I just find them weird.

This thread has been helpful. I did not realize the concept was not well balanced or comfortable on the wrist

I would go for the RM here. Ti is good for its light weight. There are also quite a few dial options out there.
Don't like the AP one at all here. Looks very bland. |

I haven’t tried on the AP Concept in question but have tried on the Supersonnerie and will say IMO you need a fairly large wrist for it to work!
My wrist is 7.5 and carries a 44ROO well but the Super did look large and plus the caseback suited my wrist shape but got the feeling it’s one of those ones which needs a certain wrist shape! Here’s a few pics |

i would go with the RM011-02, but either the America edition or the Asia Boutique edition. i prefer NTPT over Ti based on my experience with the 011-ti, too easy to get scratches.

Its probably my second favorite but most of them have too much empty space on the dials for my taste and a busier watch looks better to me with the concepts, the schumi is better than most of them though but still not for me. The Supersonnerie has the right amount of suiff going on visually.

I tried some RMs at the dealer in Palo Alto - they are very comfortable but the super-lightness is just odd after you get used to wearing watches with gold bracelets.
The dials on many RMs is so busy that they are unreadable, but I guess they are about making statements. |
