Input Needed
Hi everyone!
I have been using my GMTIIC as my daily watch for almost 5 years, and am looking to buy another watch. I am currently debating between a white/silver dial 15400ST or a YM 116680 (pre- 2017 Baselworld hands) and would like some input as I have concerns over both watches. 116680 - I love the look and feel of the watch, but worry it might be too similar to the GMTIIC. 15400 - Very different watch to diversify (pro), but as I am still 21, I am worried of how it will hold up without a ceramic bezels. I would appreciate any input! |

Also open to any other models in the 12-15K price range (trusted seller pricing).

Some collections diversify, some develop a theme...some are a little of both.
My advice would be to go with the watch you like the most, and let the collection develop as it does. FWIW, I don't think either consideration you're worrying about is worth worrying about. |

I have been very fortunate enough to run a very profitable side-gig at university. Now that I have reach my saving goal for the year (trying to be somewhat responsible ), I have decided to treat myself to a watch.

I would have gone for the white AP but sounds like the YM is the one for you. Resale on the AP is getting stronger tho, just to add that in.

AP 15400 for sure. With the YMII, you are paying for a complication that, while cool, is essentially useless, while you're paying for a (much) higher level of finishing on the AP (watch the YouTube videos posted by AP on the making of the RO). The Royal Oak is also an iconic watch, while the YMII, well, isn't, which is something to consider (not saying it should necessarily sway you towards it, just that it's worth thinking about). Lastly, I personally don't feel that the YMII is that versatile, where the RO looks good in anything from jeans to a tux.
