Urgent Design Advice needed - Lady Datejust (everrose gold)
I already own one Steel and Everrose Gold Rolex Lady Datejust (only 1 year old - and I love it) - it is 28mm and with roman numerals, Oyster bracelet, fluted bezel and a pink dial. (pic attached below)
I recently got a second Rolex watch as an award from my employer. Cheers to working in sales! This one is a brand new 28mm Everrose Gold Rolex Lady Datejust (Oyster perpetual) with President bracelet, smooth bezel, white dial with roman numerals. (pic attached). I've got a gift receipt for the new Rolex which is in full Everrose Gold and I normally would not exchange a present (I got the first watch as a surprise and kept it)...but now I've been thinking that for something that expensive maybe I should at least go to the store and have a look what other options there are...I'd love some advice from you guys before!? If I do exchange I need to do it in the coming week or so - hence the urgency. My considerations so far are: - Material - I love the full Everrose gold (I wear pink gold in general not silver), so not changing that - Bracelet - I love the President bracelet and the way it is continuous at the back, so not changing that - the Bezel - I like the fluted bezel on my other watch but I don't want this one to be too similar - the smooth bezel is kind of timeless I think - so this also staying - or suggestions? - The size - so this is the biggest question mark for me - I have quite small wrists, however 31 mm seems the go to for everyone on here - do you think I could / should size up? - The dial - white is classic but what else may look nice - Numerals - Been thinking about gem set - thoughts? yey or nay!? all comments welcome! Also any advice on which style may hold it's value best? I'm not planning on reselling but just in case... PS! My skin tone is very pale at the moment from the London winter but I tan ok in summer time and go on quite a lot of holidays.... PSS! If you have a Lady Datejust and could share a picture and comment on what you love about yours then it would be helpful too :-) |

Very nice! I would suggest just to take a look at a dealer and see if there is something you definitely like better. There is no wrong choice and watches tend to look much different on the wrist than ‘on paper’.

Congrats on what is obviously a well earnt reward from your employer.
I think your TT fluted is the better looking watch of the two, and from your wrist shots either 28 or 31mm suits you. It would seem from what you have written that the awarded pink gold watch is almost right where you want a second watch to be. It already ticks a number of boxes for you but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a trip down to your local AD to see if you can trade it for that ‘perfect’ watch. Not being completely familiar with the current Lady DJ references in offer, I can’t advise, but white dials are classic and timeless, as is Mother of Pearl or a beautiful sunburst dial with lighter silver coloured tones. Just my opinion. Good luck in your selection and let us know what you decide. |

I would look on the Rolex website, they let you walk through all the available dials for a given watch.
A dark dial could look very nice, the MOP dials look great, just be aware of legibility. The purple dial and the white or dark MOP are my top choices for you. I almost bought this model with the purple dial for my friend, but we ended up with a Breguet. Both 28 and 31mm fit you. I would avoid going up as a larger watch is more sporty. The women I have met with a rg Daytona (40mm) for example don't quite pull it off. Unless you are Ellen with a yg vintage Daytona, the full gold at that size can look toyish rather than stylish. |

I think both sizes work on you, but I prefer the 28mm.
I went ahead and had a little fun with the configurator, and, based on your criteria, I came up with this, which is pretty classic. Monochrome looks great in precious metal options, IMO, and it'll never go out of style. 28mm, president bracelet, fluted bezel, and sundust stick dial (you could also do a domed bezel, but I don't think this is too similar to you rather watch.) |

The full Rose Gold 28MM DateJust looks perfect on your wrist.
The contrast of white dial and the Rose Gold makes the watch more outstanding. 28MM size and the smooth bezel best fit with night dress, it looks more elegant. I assume you will wear the full gold Datejust only for some special occasions. |

Congrats on the achievement. My first Rolex was funded by a large sales bonus. On finding a model better suited to your tastes, I’d suggest visiting the stores near you.
But I must say the one you’ve shown is beautiful on your wrist for two reasons. In Winter, the white dial pairs well with your fair skin. In Summer, the Everose will pair with your newly bronzed tan arms. The odds of picking the perfect design from the wide array you’ll &ind in a catalog or online - and then finding it in a shop are very slim. Especially in precious metal. Most AD’s inventory is currently depleted after the Holiday sales season so that also is a factor.

In my opinion, the two watches are very similar. I like the two tone much more, works well with the fluted bezel. The roman numerals on the new one are throwing off the look for me. President bracelet is nice, but with the lack of fluted bezel, I think the watch may look better with the stick or diamond markers.
I would explore other dial or metal options to change it up too. A white gold or steel may look nice if your skin is more tanned in winter. |

thanks for all input
very helpful comments! also thanks for reminding me that the store will probably not have everything in stock that I may be looking at on the website. Having said that I'm hopeful as it was bought from the biggest luxury watch shop just off Oxford circus in London.
The more I look at the two watches I own, the more I realise that the smooth bezel on the new watch makes it look a lot less luxurious. Also I think with the smaller links of the president bracelet the fluted bezel looks much better. so this has now become a must swap for me! The only question marks I still have are: - sizing up to 31 mm- will only know once I try on in store - the dial colour - I'm thinking something light and maybe even MOP...having said that I think the chocolate colour looks amazing but most likely will look odd on my skin tone - and...I'm serioiusly considering adding some bling - instead of the roman numerials going for some gems! I even like the ones in the shape of stars, that has only one Roman numerial hour marker at nine o’clock. Maybe less classic but I really like it. A bit more special :-) any additional comments welcome!? :-) |

If I was giving a Rolex of this price to one of my employees, I would not have any bad feelings about them going to a dealer to make sure they pick one out that they love. It’s a lot of money for a watch that someone doesn’t care for and may not wear.

Wow you sure can pick ‘em.
That one with the star-mounted diamond hour plots is great. Sent from my iPhoneX using Tapatalk

I think the smaller size is both feminine and sophisticated. I’m not a fan of the way some women wear large watches with loose bracelets as if they were bangles.
Both choices you show look great. The decision to add some diamond accents makes great sense. Congrats, and enjoy! |

It turns out that both watches I have are 31mm! So i'm not changing the size.
Unfortunately the one with star gems is only available in 28mm. having said that it only came with the light pink dial which is the same as my other watch... So I'm going with option 2 above - MOP and little square gems all around. They are ordering it and I could not be any more excited to pick it up next week!!! Thanks everyone! |

Urgent Design Advice needed - Lady Datejust (everrose gold)
Meant to say “tanned in summer”, not winter in my previous post.
Nice choice on #2. That would have been my pick as well out of the two based on the dial/bezel/metal combination. |

Good deal - getting what you like is great. Now, about that incoming MOP model, it would be rare indeed that they could source it so quickly unless it’s already in inventory at another location of that AD. There is a healthy trade in the business where inventory is swapped around but sometimes the model is missing one or the other collateral pieces. When they call, I’d suggest making sure there is a new, blank warranty card with the correct matching serial number on it for that MOP model. And you’d want to see a red chrono plastic tag along with the boxes and manual to accompany the watch. After that, all that’s needed is a fresh incoming thread with wristshots Sent from my iPhoneX using Tapatalk

Yes I know, but if the gift as is has some meaning to OP perhaps better to keep that one instead and just sell old one to get something different Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It was a company award, not an anniversary/birthday/Christmas gift. I'd return it as well and buy something I liked!

Great Choice OP. I personally love those square diamonds, they subtle enough not to be too bling bling.
