UGA vs UA - College Championship Game

Tomorrow is the big game in Atlanta. It will be a classic match up of two strong teams and will likely be won by the team that makes the least mistakes e.g. turnovers and penalties.

It will be the second time in seven years that two teams from the Southeastern Conference will meet for a national crown as No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama will battle Monday in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.
For the Bulldogs and their fans, this is an opportunity decades in the making. Georgia has not played for a national title since 1983 nor brought home the championship since 1980. The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, will be playing in their third straight title game and sixth over thel last nine seasons. Alabama is 4-1 in its previous five such games and defeated LSU 21-0 in that prior all-SEC meeting to win the 2011 title.

Because I'm UGA Alumni, I'll start with "Go Dawgs!"

Good luck topping the Georgia/Oklahoma game last week. That was a classic.

Ill be rooting for UGA like my son plays on the team bc I despise Bama (a little jealousy?yes, but mostly bc of there obnoxious fans) Bama however will probably win though. I bet OSU fans are still steamed as they should be. Bamas biggest win was against us (LSU)...Go Dawgs!!!

Can you imagine how Kassna Daniels will approach the game?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.nca...each-other-cfp

In a way, we in ATL area win regardless of outcome, financially that is...

Keep your new car at home, 77T..... because traffic will be gridlock...
Even here, restaurants are doubling down on staff and food, beer, etc. Some businesses are closing early so people can ready for/watch game.

If Saban pulls this off, it will be 12-0 for him vs former assistants. If his under study Kirby/Dawgs get lucky, wow, wow, wow, the whole State will go bananas. Nothing will get done on Tuesday, time clocks will be idle....

Roll Tide! Family divided for me. Everyone in the family is a huge Bama fan or UGA fan with most being alumni of one or the other. We are all watching the game together tonight. It will probably get very interesting!!

I am a Bama fan, but I normally pull for UGA when they are are playing anyone except Bama. For what it is worth, I think Nick Saban is a living legend, best there is, was, or ever will be. Great role model, great coach, and actually a nice guy!

Nobody outside the SE gives a crap about an all SEC match-up.
Complete snore fest.

Ratings will be horrendous, as they should be.

I'm skipping the game. Last time there was an all SEC championship game, it was a snorefest with crap ratings. I'm sure a lot of people in Big 10 and Pac 12 land are skipping after they both got shut out of the CFB Playoffs.

So I just did a little research. And I think you guys might be right after all. Here is what I found:

“The all-SEC championship after the 2011 season between Alabama and LSU was the lowest-rated title game in the Bowl Championship Series' 16-year history.”

This game basically started the end of the BCS and my guess is this will start the end of the 4 team playoff and a move to an 8 once the ratings come in really low.

We will see what the stats tell us tomorrow.

Consider this report:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...st-years-games

Television ratings for the College Football Playoff semifinals rose 26 percent from last season during Monday's games, which saw Georgia win a double-overtime thriller against Oklahoma and Alabama defeat Clemson in a rematch of last year's championship game.

Derek Volner of ESPN Media Zone noted the semifinal contests, which moved from New Year's Eve to New Year's Day, were also up 42 percent from the 2015 campaign.

LOL, harsh but accurate. Pac 12 guy (UW)...we had a bad year as a conference.

Wrong on both accounts!

http://deadline.com/2018/01/alabama-...pn-1202239161/

With a 16.7 in metered market results across its main channel, ESPN2 and ESPNU, ESPN shattered the double-digit ratings declines that has hit the NFL this season. To add further context there were no national anthem protests on the field at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium last night and President Donald Trump was in the house — at least for the first half, when it looked like the host Bulldogs had it.

Last night’s primetime game is up 9% in the early ratings over the Clemson-Alabama battle of last year. That January 9, 2017, title matchup saw the Tigers win 35-31, drawing an 8.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 24.42 million viewers.

As it stands, last night’s game in the second-best metered market result of the College Football Playoff era, with only the 2015 Ohio State-Oregon matchup topping it. That 42-20 win for the Buckeyes drew a massive 18.8 rating over the trio of ESPN nets.

Clearly winning the night Monday in both broadcast and cable, ESPN itself had a 16.0 metered market result for the championship game – a rise of 8% from its solo rating of 2017.
