Buying Frustration Vent...

Here’s the scenario I find a grail. I have the cash. I’m ready to buy. I talk to the seller first. We agree on a price. Just as I’m about to pay, another buyer appears and offers more. I’m short the additional $300. I lose the watch. It’s not the end of the world. I buy a few fun pieces and lick my wounds. I then notice the buyer flashing his new purchase in every forum. Mildly annoyed. Read some of the buyers posts and see that this person is a “serial flipper”. Nothing wrong with that. Then I notice the serial flipper lists my grail-for a damn bargain-well under what I was willing to pay 2 weeks back....Nice Gent!!!!!!

However, my cash is now gone from buying a few fun pieces to cheer myself up.

I see the grail sell within minutes. In real time. Drag.

I won’t get into specifics because it’s not anyone’s fault and all involved are good people. Timing just wasn’t on my side. Vent over :)

Not a psychologist here, but this doesn't sound to me like a timing issue ;)

Not sure I understand what happened... But nonetheless, I am sorry you didn’t get your grail, start saving for it again.

For some absurd reason, this account reminds me of trophy wives/girlfriends and the self-serving 'players' who always seem to raise the stakes.

I know the feeling and it sucks! It’s not about timing or about the price difference but to me it’s a matter of principle! Once a deal is agreed upon, it doesn’t matter if someone comes up with $1000 more! A verbal agreement (to an honest person) should be binding!

Sorry buddy! I’m sure there’s a better watch for you out there!

My thoughts as well unless it was an auction.
I would not buy from that seller.

All true, friends. A watch is only meant to be when it’s on my wrist. The game getting one you can afford in the condition you want is part of the fun and frustration nonetheless!

The smartest move is to get a trophy wife that should age well. That’s money.
One and done.

Always another watch. This might not be a timing issue.

Based off your facts you think the seller and buyer planned this? If I read it right the guy offers more then you then a couple weeks later he sells it for less? Maybe seeing if you would offer more cash? If the person is a serious flipper can’t seeing them lose money in such a short time frame. Once that did not work the “deal” happened, but not what you think it was. Maybe other watches might have been involved I.e. slow moving?

Just a theory, but just surprised a serious flipped losing money that quickly.

No what I think happened is at first I came up short $$$$. Then the guy who got it sold it for what I could have afforded just 2 weeks later-I was not expecting that to happen so I bought 2 other watches and was cashed out and missed the resale which was the watch I wanted at the price I wanted. Zero collusion. Just being disappointed that I missed the same watch twice in two weeks.

So this guy sold the watch for less than he paid for it two weeks after he bought it?

No other cash anywhere to buy your GRAIL? Then move the fun pieces after it was acquired to replace the cash?
Like others have said there are more watches out there
