Amazing lane change!!! It's not turning your head and checking the blind spot that'll get you. Mirrors only tell part of the story!!!

This happened to me about 5 or 6 years ago as well. Somebody about 4 cars ahead and 2 lanes over lost control on dry pavement, spun out in the middle of 6 lanes. Only difference is he ended up kissing the guard rail. Darted right across in front of me. 20 minutes for my heart to slow down.

Well they would have to look away from the Facebook to actually turn and check their blind spot. Duh.

Yikes.. that was close...!! -.. No signal to start with...
I dont think that white Toyota was much help...coming up in that lane faster than then flow of traffic and passing the car on his right...!
The 'spinner' was lucky to get it straight again...and some heads up driving by that red 'Civic'..
That was a heart stopper...........!!

I use small stick-on convex mirrors on my outside mirrors. Understanding what the mirrors show is sufficient to drive safely.

What make of car was the 'spinner'?
It seems to spin on such little provocation - maybe very worn tyres?

Happened to me in San Diego. Ridiculous. In the video the ridiculous over correction was probably more dangerous than anything else. Both before the spin, and at the end. If you are that violent with the controls of a vehicle, you shouldn't be driving.

I was thinking the same thing. Another factor could be some poorly done modifications. Sometimes people try to make a car handle better by putting bigger sway bars on or otherwise modifying the suspension and they create a car that is more likely to oversteer.

Cant see tire wear..of course..and the car seems stock...- but Im more inclined to think there's some over correction/reaction .. from changing lanes on the right, to find someone's coming up fast behind you, then correcting, by going left, to find someone is there too, so you hit the brakes while trying to get back to where there is now a 'hole'...and the car decides to go its own way, based on trajectory.. - He's on the brakes coming out of the spin and eventually re gains control....luckily....or really good driving.. (I'm inclined to think Lucky....)..!

Indeed! I always turn and look. My car has no blind spot monitor. I’m the blind spot monitor

If you had a chance to ask to ask the driver the reply might be...”I should check the tires? I mean how often should I check them? You mean they wear out?”

My sisters friend didn't know you had to change the oil in your car. I always get a chuckle thinking about when I first found our

That is funny.

So, with the trend towards self driving cars, coupled with electric, I suppose her grandchildren will never change the oil nor know what a steering wheel does.

As an example, my youngest grandkid has never seen a car window crank handle.

Spot on, Lee

As a motorcyclist, I always look over the appropriate shoulder before turning or changing lanes. I don’t rely on my mirrors.
