Let’s see your engraved case backs...

My wife got me a new (my first from an AD) Sub C date for my birthday back once Nov. I have been trying to come up with something to put on the back and I’m not coming up with anything. You guys have any suggestions?

The last one she had the idea to put “Not for Sale” which I still traded and she’s still laughs about haha see below

I thought of using 143 or 1-4-3 since it’s our number (google 1-4-3 lighthouse if you’re curious)

Or since it’s a heirloom and I’m a captain I thought of “Capt. And my name”
Or something like
Happy Birthday from my wife and daughters name?
Total loss, I’m sure some of you creative minds can do better!!

Ideas ???

I think you should leave the case back as it is.

Maybe at some time you may want to give the watch to someone else and you might at that time choose to engrave it.

Nice gift! I'd also keep it as is. My wife also had gotten me a sub back when we were dating and I'll always remember it (and never sell it).

Well, since you asked, I always thought it would fun to engrave, "Property of Jams Boned, agent 0069, star of In Her Majesty's Secret Crevice." But I could never get it to fit.

Personally, I don't think I would engrave the case back on any of my watches but if that's what your happy doing I'd say go for it.

Have your daughters name and fingerprint engraved onto it.

I've seen it done to the inside of wedding rings so I know it can be done. It's just something a little different I thought I'd throw out there.

You might be less likely to trade something that has your daughters name and fingerprint on it too

Handwriting can definitely be done and I'm pretty sure they can scale it to size too once it's written. You just need to search around your area for someone to do it. That might be the tricky part.

Why would you think this watch will be an heirloom any more than the watch your wife gifted to you and lovingly engraved which you so callously flipped?

Be creative. Do something like a tattoo but engraved...of something you like, like a lighthouse

If you really want it engraved perhaps give it to your wife so she can think of something with your daughters help, I think that would mean much more. Picking the words for your wife and/or daughter seems like sending yourself a birthday card from them. I don't mean that to sound offensive.

Look into laser etching since it isn't as deep and easier to buff-out if you need to do that.

And think about a picture of your wife & daughter.

As for the sentiment, aren't you getting the cart before the horse?
"My wife got me a new (my first from an AD) Sub C date..."

She chooses, right?

Enjoy it whatever you decide!

Maybe she should try a “this watch is stolen” or “this is a fake Rolex” engraving to stop you from selling it (-;

I was just going to say get your favorite pic laser engraved on the back. It would be unique and not hard to polish out. Or for like $100 just buy a replacement case-back and have that engraved. Then you can swap the original back on when you change your mind and want to sell the watch.
