Those of you that are in to tech like me may have heard about the new Samsung S9 and S9+ being announced. I put together this short to the point video highlighting the main differences between the NEW S9/S9+ and the infamous iPhone X!

Figured it might be worth sharing here for some of the forum members deciding on which to go for! Enjoy.

you mean the PIXEL 2XL? Great camera though for me some of the images look too OS altered. Nice clean Android without any of the layers or bloatware. But I'm reading issues with the build quality.

Interesting, thanks. iPhones getting too pricey for my liking, I’ve been thinking about switching. Also heard some decent things about the oneplus.

Just watched the vid, keep them coming!

being totally honest, the OnePlus used to offer amazing value. Their recent phone seems to be priced higher than previous models so it's almost like let me pay a little more and get a premium brand. Still great value for money tho.

I have been using the OnePlus 5 128gb the past 5 months, great phone.

I have just got a Pixel 2, having used Nexus and Pixel before I have had a Galaxy S8 which i found to be brilliant, I just prefer the Pixel 2 though.

I’m looking to upgrade in the spring. I have an S7edge, but I don’t like the “edge” feature...

iPhone user for 6-7 years.

Android for the last few.

Currently S8+ which I've really liked. S9 looks the same with camera improvements and slightly better hardware. The S10 should be a big change.

In an ideal world, I could get Samsung hardware with clean android plus a few tweaks like Motorola did with the pure versions of their phones.

Also high hopes for the Pixel 3. Feel like Google will nail in it with the 3rd version.

Just curious. How the users here utilize the performance of these phones? In my experience I've yet to see anyone utilize these expensive flagship phones that comes close to justifying the price. Yet, because of my tech knowledge I get asked all the time, yet my advice is not heeded because well....."all my friends have "x" phone" or something similar.

No, I'm a Windows user and thus android as well.
Also I own quite a few high end headphones and need an audio jack, which apple removed for no reason.

Nothing against apple, they make fantastic stuff but I will not buy a phone twice the price with inferior hardware just because of iOS or brand name/looks.

I wouldn't waste my money on either one quite frankly. The S8 should be a bit of a bargain now that the S9 is out so that is what I'm going to upgrade to in a few months.

I'm still rocking an S6.

People just want what's new and shiny.

iPhone X is a $1000 phone (despite costing around $370 in parts) and that alone appeals to many.

The average person doesn't need these high end phones, but it depends on priorities.

I personally want a fantastic camera, and you need a flagship to get that.

Great job!! You’re very good at this. Natural.

Our closest friend works for Apple and she couldn’t convince any of us to get the X for 25% off. That pretty much sums it up.

Well, the reason was so we’d have to spend more money with them, as always....
More so because people lose just one EarPod as they’re not connected and have to buy a new set. I’m sick of them looking for ways to make a profit off us.

I’m headed the direction you’re going.

I've got an iPhoneX (upgraded from an iPhone 6) and am quite happy with it. I've got wireless headphones, so the lack of an audio jack doesn't bother me.

I hear what you’re saying and I agree with you. I’m not moving in the other direction though. At least not yet, but that may happen if this keeps up. For now, I still like their products.

I have the X as well and use both wired and wireless headphones with it. I use the wireless ones when I’m exercising and actually use 2 pairs so my partner can listen as well. We use Bose Connect to pair them and it works great.
When traveling by air I use my wired Bose noise canceling headphones along with the adapter that Apple supplies with the phone. No big deal not having a jack on the phone other than you can’t charge it while using wireless headsets.

Nah. That's just what they want you to think. I used to feel the same way, but back then android was kind of a mess.

I'm actually surprised that people didn't revolt when it turned out that they've been slowing down phones for years.

That's how deep their hooks are in people.

I prefer the iPhone because it’s easier to FaceTime, share pics with the family- who all have iPhones. If that was not a factor, I’d probably go pixel- if I’m gonna go android gonna go all the way.

Currently own a iPhone 7 Plus and probably will use it until it can’t work. Or another family member wants mine and I’ll get the next one.

I think the S8/S9+ hardware looks and feels great. I'm not sure how smooth the OS is or how the apps are. I do think the iPhone X is overpriced at this point which is why I had a bunch on launch day but sold them all.

I may see if I can take one for an extended test drive. I do think the Facetime and photo stream is pretty useful with a baby, so not sure I'm ready to make the move yet.

DXOMark compares the S9+ camera and video to iPhone X and Pixel 2

TL:DR, S9+ scored the highest DXO mobile score to date.

Samsung and Apple have been going back and forth on still image quality for the last few years.

Currently in their overall standings, the iphone X is 3rd after the S9+ and the Pixel 2. For still images only, the X is now 2nd to the S9+

The one place Apple has been thoroughly beaten though is video. They haven't really been competing at all with the flagship androids when it comes to video.

It's all great in objective testing, but they all produce great images. A few points up or down every year doesn't really matter.

Long time Android user that just switched to an iPhoneX a couple of weeks ago.

I like the android OS, and was happy with my Galaxy phones, but I find that the word is really iPhone-centric. It makes a difference with messages, but other ways as well. Apps tend to come out first for IOS, then android (if at all), and I find that most apps are better written (i.e., work better) in IOS.

I find that I am more productive with my new iPhone than I was with my prior phone. Stuff like Microsoft office and one drive works better. I can actually do work related stuff on my phone, rather than having to break out the laptop to get things done.

What I don't like about IOS: iTunes- The exception to well written software above. Very unintuitive and difficult to use. I wish you could just copy your music onto the phone like you can with android.

I’ve had Apple for the past 4yrs and android before it which I never felt was anywhere near as seemless. These days I’d just like a phone that works well and that I dont have to feel like I’m being monitored 24/7.......ah Nokia....
