Love the sport/professional models, BUT.......
I’m an absolute Rolex fan, and love the brand for many reasons. I’ve tried others, but other than a G-shock, it’s all I have.
Having said that, I’m aggravated with the current situation. So I’ve decided to sort of .....circumvent the current issues. I feel fortunate that I can go about it this way, but I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar thoughts? I love the sport/professional models, but with the shortages, wait lists, case changes, recent rumors, etc.... I’ve changed my way of thinking/buying (for now) So I’m staying modern while avoiding all the things mentioned above... Meaning....a collection of.. PM DD 40, PM Daytona, SS Date-just. 2 oyster bracelet, 2 pres bracelet, 2 smooth bezel, 1 fluted, 1 sport bezel. Very happy not thinking about what case, lug size, bezel, etc...change is coming. So for now....loving the classic shapes, dials, colors, and ease of finding inventory! Love looking forward to the new releases, but simple modern/classic case & lug sizes are my go to, for now :) Anyone else have thoughts in this direction? Have a great weekend TRF! |

not really. that said if i want better case proprtions i buy modern tudors. their cases and lugs are much better than their modern rolex counterparts imo. and you dont have to wait months to buy one.

Not sure I understand, Richard. I only see three watches in your collection from your description, but 8 bracelets?
Or am I totally misreading your post? (Very possible ) |

Personally I love all of my modern SS watches from Daytona’s to D-Blue! Own most of them and enjoy them all. To each his own but personally I could care less if they make any changes and I look forward to new watches not re-do’s. Hoepfully they give us a few new cool pieces. Last year SkyD in SS and SD43 though will be tough to top though. Oh and yes I am still holding out hope for a new bi-color SS GMT to go along with BLNR.

I hear you. Just bought a new Timex Ironman. There really isn’t a Rolex I want right now and a new sub or GMT doesn’t interest me either. In anticipation of nothing exciting for me, I’m about to order a new bicycle.

I've been looking at my LVc and my friend's D500 with a keener and more critical eye with every month that passes with these higher prices and hype, and I just can't see it. I love the watches and everything these SS Rolexes do so well, but they are for me what they were 6 months ago, and nothing more.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Basel releases, I always do, but I'd be surprised if there was a release that made me join the rat race now. |

I am with you. My collection is slowly growing and would probably buy more but given lack of supply of certain models, I too am in a holding pattern. Excited to see what if any new things Rolex will release for 2018

What Rolex has evidently achieved with this control imposed in production/supply is that Rolex owners are more likely to hold on to their pieces.
Just over a year ago you could easily replace a piece such as LV, BLNR. Nowadays it is not easy and it can be a challenging task to even get a 116610LN in some countries. |

So it seems if Basel has any suprises it will be just like the Daytona or the SS Skydweller, just adding to the typical waiting list and small allocations. I’m just not that interested now
Just so many beautiful watches out now at similar price points that you can look to. |

I’m happy with the SS ones I have.
At this point, it’d have to be something pretty special for me to pay the admission. |

Hi all, first post here I have a SubD LN and a Batman. Looking for a Hulk and getting more and more frustrated about how hyped and impossible to find it is right now. Things I hope for: Hulk not being discontinued and no price increase after Baselworld.

First of all amazing collection Rich! I’m more into older Rolex / Tudor watches, so nothing new would likely make me change course. Still missing a GMT, probably would look for a 116710LN, 116710BLNR (if crazy prices drop with a SS coke GMT at Basel) or an older 16713 on Jubilee Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Personally, it's either SS or nothing else from Rolex. Ideally sports only but I'm prepared to do an exception for the SS DJ41. I'm not keen on TT and unwilling to spend that much more for PM. If I can't get what I want, I'll happily pick SS sport models from other brands, no problem.

Yup. I have no desire for ceramic edition Rolex.
My GMTIIC is enough. |
