Going to Asia for 5 weeks for work. Daytona ok?

Im going to Tokyo, HK, Beijing, and Shanghai for 5 weeks for work (IT support for a law firm) They are putting us up nice hotels. Is it safe to take the D500? Ive been to Japan and HK before with my Bluesy and it was fine but what about China?

Yes, of course. Like anywhere in the world, if you want to find trouble you can. But those cities are far safer than say many large cities in the United States.

It will be fine. I would put all of those cities as being much safer than any European or US City from the point of view of violent crime/muggings etc. and crimes of that nature.
You will be fine.
Ad has been said in any city if you're looking for trouble you can find it but in my experience trouble finds you an awful lot less in those cities you mentioned than others.

I live in Shanghai and wear a Patek, AP and Rolexes in rotation daily. No problems!

Yes. Those places you mentioned are cosmopolitan and you won't be the only one wearing a Rolex. They are also incredibly safer than the West in terms of crime.

Better guard your cards, chance is fairly high you are coming back with another watch.

You’ll fit right in with the attorneys, they will certainly be wearing similar pieces. However, the local IT staff may not. Either way enjoy your trip!

The Tier One cities in China are very safe, much safer than any city in the States. You'll be ok with your Daytona.

Like what "sya" has said, there will be more expensive watches over there.

You'll be fine.
Get ready to see alot of nice (if not nicer) pieces on people's wrists in JP and HK.
You'll probably see some nice pieces in Shanghai and Beijing depending on what districts you go. Most likely you'll see the nicer pieces on peoples wrists at PEK or PVG airport though.

I have heard it's not safe in China...where it's common for tourist to have their phone and camera stolen in public. A relative is going to visit China in a month and she will be extra cautious when taking pictures.

It's up to you...but I would say keep it safe in a bank.

Just like everywhere else.. if you leave you bag open or leave your phone on the table with crowded people, there is a chance ppl will snatch your phone or cameras. But it's pretty much common sense. As for the watch... don't worry about it as long as you are wearing it on you. Rolex is a dime a dozen in China. I have been travelling to various areas of china for the past 20 years.. Never had ANYTHING stolen. I wouldn't worry at all man.

After having lived in the region for 20 years and spent much time in China I have never heard of that happening. Like anywhere, I’m sure there are exceptional cases, but it sure isn’t “common“

99.9% safe in Japan, China and Hong Kong unless you are drunk in the bar or night club.
