A new hope
With all the talk of future generations not even wanting watches, this survey result was nice to see.

until the next Steve Jobs is born and can find a way to turn the smart watch as a must for daily life, luxury watch will be fine.

Whenever Apple launches a new model/version of their products, their sales go up. Good marketing strategy. Many watch enthusiasts wear one regular and one smart watch nowadays. I am happy to see Rolex leading the way. The rest of the brands (minus Timex) is just fashion junk (including charge me daily Apple) except PP. Timex has some nice design daily beaters in their collection.

Looks like all those rap songs and the 5711 craze was enough to put PP on the scoreboard

High end watches are fine as long as people continue to attach meaning to intangible items which is pretty much guaranteed they will. You cant have any sentimental connection to an item that has a lifespan of 2 years.

i could care less if Apple watch is at 99%. It won't effect my love for Rolex.

And third through sixth place consist of fashion watches, a Casio, and another smartwatch. Of course, these are teenagers we're talking about so I think it's actually a good thing they prefer inexpensive watches. "Upper income teens" is a bit of a distasteful idea. This suggests that Seiko needs to get their USA product line act together. |

Interesting. Hell, call me crazy but I wear my BLNR on my left wrist and Apple Watch on my right. It’s hard not to use the Apple Watch when it controls 90% of the lights in your house and car. But it’s even harder not to wear your Rolex when you spent so much on it.

Everyone knows the Rolex name even if they have no interest in watches. It would also likely be the first brand out of most people mouths that knew nothing about watches at all.
While I am sure some teens love watches this survey doesn't tell me future generations want a Rolex just that's the only luxury brand they knew when asked. This is clear by the rest of the company in the survey. |

I worry about this too when I bought my submariner I had to hunt for one with a warranty card indicating it was built on his birth year. Knowing that one day I would pass it down to him on a special occasion. It would really stink if you said no thanks Dad, who wears watches anymore?
