Yachtmaster bezel durability
How durable are the platinum bezels on these pieces in terms of showing scratches, etc..? Do they look awful after a few years? I had a stainless Daytona years back and the bezel didn’t look too hot after a couple years, showed scratches like crazy.

I've worn mine almost daily for the past 2 months and the bezel on my YM Rhodium is in great shape (translation: no scratches).
However, I will say that I am constantly aware of the watch on my wrist and any "dangers" around it or close to touching/brushing up on it. I'm super cautious, just in case. |

I’ve never owned one but from what I hear they are scratch magnets. It would most likely be scratched more easily than your Daytona.

Yacht-Master isn't a daily I'm sorry to say. I love the Yachty but there's a reason the Sub keeps kicking its ass.

No problems with my blue face yacht master; platinum bezel is brighter/shinier than steel and gets a lot of compliments. No scratches worse than my other watches.

I wear mine daily unless traveling. 2002 model very minor swirls from normal wear, nothing major.

Purchased new in 2001. Worn for everything and never serviced. Holds up nicely for me.

I had my Blue YM for 4 years and wore it frequently, not a single scratch on the bezel and it looked great.

Was only thinking about starting a thread on this topic last night. How does the everose bezel compare to the platinum in terms of durability? I’m guessing the platinum is more durable.

Got my 116622 in 2015, NOS. The only scratches on my bezel are the ones that came with the watch, 2 barely visible micro scratches I haven't been able to photograph. I haven't made a single scratch myself in 3 years ownership. I'm cautious with it though, I don't throw it around not bang it against stuff. I'm pretty sure it will scratch otherwise. As the AD told me, it very much depends on the usage .

Have a blue dial YM - worn in rotation for few year - had as ss Daytona worn the same way. I don't baby any of my watches, although I typically don't wear them doing manual labor stuff. YM bezel looked much better than the Daytona with similar use. Ended up with a ceramic Daytona, not specifically for that reason, but the bezel wear did bother me - not so much on the YM.

I wonder about this too. Was recently in the Netherlands, the rolex tech in the fancy labcoat told me that the Yachtmaster 2 WG with platinum bezel (same as YM1) is fine as long as it's cleaned regularly. Was concerned about the bezel turning black or super worn out. If you look online there's a ton of abused platinum bezels. I think it's due to poor maintenance and fugazee polishing

Worth noting every single sales rep i talk to about the platinum bezel wearing out has no idea what im talking about. It's super annoying because they are very rude in general.

I had a blue dial YM and the bezel was the only reason I sold it. It had some scratches on it from when I bought it (most people aren't as careful as I am with watches) and it drove me nuts. Not saying it's easy to scratch, but easier than aluminum inserts or ceramic for sure.

I haven't scratched my YM bezel, though the bead blasted surface is easy to smudge just by touching it. It is also easy to clean.

Wore a 16622 for about a year. I had some issues with scratches on the bezel and watch itself. Part of this is I am generally a Sub guy and the YM has much more polished surfaces so kind of drove me nuts. Shame as I really liked the way the watch looked and especially the way they wear. Very comfortable watch. I do miss it.
