FINNALY.... I got one!!!

After wanting to own a REAL rolex since I was about 12 I FINALLY DO! And its better than I imagined!

Last week I was able to make a deal with a client of ours that landed me a batman. The watch thats been my favorite since I saw it in a case at an AD in Bermuda. The watch has been all over the world, its got just the right amount of wear on the band that I dont have to be afraid to wear it. The deal between my client and I helped him get an equal or greater upgrade to his project and me this beautiful watch so a true win win for both of us which really just makes the road to my dream watxh that much better! What would likley have taken several more years to aqurine is here and im pumped about it!

Now if I can just decide if I want the 24 hr hand set to gmt or my local time I will be all set!

It's a good feeling, isn't it? Congrats on the pickup, and on picking an apt member name.

As for setting the 24-hour hand, it's good for whatever you want. If you're going to be traveling a lot, I think it makes the most sense to set it for your home time so that's always on display; then you can adjust the hour hand easily to the local time of wherever you're traveling. On the other hand, if you're rarely out of your home zone, then setting it for GMT/UTC might make it easier for you to assess times in other zones, if you know their UTC offset - although finding that out would be about as involved as simply googling the current time in that zone.

But whatever. It's your watch. Use it however you want, and enjoy it.

A Batman! Congrats! I'm envious. I'm considering a watch in the near future and a Batman is on the top of my list. I seriously think I'm gonna go for one myself. I'd love to go for a TT CHNR but that's even tougher to get and definitely out of my budget. I think I'll be real happy with a Batman.

Congrats!

Now, make sure you don't make the rookie mistake of SELLING IT to upgrade.

DON'T!

Keep this as your relic for the future. This is your first watch. Whatever you do, avoid the impulse to trade it in.

As you progress in the watch collecting journey, it will become more valuable for you. It will be a symbol.

Cheers!

Congratulations, wear it in good health. And, to repeat - if possible try to keep it. I cannot speak for others but almost everyone that sold their first Rolex regrets it. If not regret, they miss having it.

Now young man, post some pics as soon as you have time. Remember, without pix - it never happened.

All the best,
Mark

Well done and congratulations to you. I also completely agree with the others....we’re going to need to see some PICS!!

More importantly though, on the don’t EVER sell it. My first “real” watch was also the GMT II 16710. I had gone through several phases of resisting the temptation to sell it for an upgrade (and that was even before the prices had skyrocketed) but I am really glad that I didn’t sell it. It has found itself a very strong place in my collection/rotation and it is among very good company.

The Batman is a great piece. Wear it I good health.
