Happy wife, happy life
We have an extra balcony that we rarely use.
 The lady is a little tired of the old worn floor.  So we buy a carpet and I have to do like my friend in Scotland, made a fitted carpet as they call it.   Not bad IMHO.  Sometimes small changes give a great result
