Trade advice

I have an 18038 (1981) that is in excellent condition. Bought from original owner. The DD is too flashy for me, I’d like something sportier and I’d like something that at least holds its value. I’ve been offered a 2005 16600 SD SEL and no holes. Also mint. Thoughts?

I with you in that it’s a bit flashy so if you don’t have any desire to wear it, it’s an interesting trade. The 16600 is a great watch but I think that 18038 is probably worth a bit more.

I’m not a valuation expert, but would hate to see a fellow TRF member leave money on the table. Folks here will likely chime in to give you additional perspective.

As always, if you really love that SD reference and the DD is just sitting there, it’s worth considering - if you aren’t leaving too much $$$ on the table.

How much cash will you be receiving?

Is the SD a complete and crisp set?

Keep in mind that SD are lagging a bit behind other 5 digit sports references in pricing, so consider that in the valuation.

SD are awesome, but the market on these while solid , is not red hot like their siblings..so don't get caught up in 5 digit fever and sell the DD short

If you sell yours first you may be in a better position to shop around . Although l have no idea what yours is worth. I guess you do?

You didn't mention whether either watch has box and papers which will affect value. But generally speaking, even though your president is worth a little more than the sea dweller, the trade value will be less than what you could get in a private sale/retail. I think it might be close to an even trade.
