Watch box for Rolex

Guys,

I am in desperate need of a watch box. Any recommendations from Rolex owners? I don't want to spend too much, but I also don't want something terribly cheap.

I found that the pillow that come with the Rolex box is too big for my watch (I am afraid it may stretch the bracelet with time) so I would like to find a box that has smaller/softer pillows.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Kind of a waste imo. If all you have is a date complication, seems pretty silly to keep your watch running to avoid setting a date once in a while.

I have a couple of Wolf watch boxes. Savoy range. Piano black with black silk lining.

You should get an original Rolex box for your watch and use a different pillow so you don;t stretch the bracelet.
You should also check on age compatibility when buying a used Rolex box.
Good luck with your search !

Just cannot understand why a thing like a pillow could possibly stretch SS.

Fair question.
My wrist is small, so I had to take four links out of the bracelet. Consequently, when I put the watch on the pillow I have to squeeze the pillow a lot to close the bracelet, since the circumference of the bracelet when closed is small. That puts the bracelet on a lot of pressure of the compressed pillow.
But i may be wrong and this may be a non issue. It's just a concern to try and keep a very very expensive product in good shape.

You’ll get the same problem with any pillows that comes any other watch boxes.
Solution; get a ribbon and tie it on the pillow as tight as you can and then your watch will fit over it.

It's not the pressure from a pillow that will stretch a bracelet. That is a misnomer. Stretch is caused by the wear of the pins in the holes at the junctions between the links. Pillow soft, Stainless hard. That amount of pressure means naught. Just saying.

What causes Bracelet Wear is Dirt and Grime getting worked into the links of the bracelet, then movement of the links caused by the normal wearing of the watch. Now, Accelerated Wear is Caused by NOT Cleaning Your Watch (at least the bracelet) Regularly AND wearing the bracelet too loosely. The loose bracelet allows excessive movement, contributing to more bracelet wear.

So, Keep It Clean AND Properly Adjust The Bracelet To Reduce Unnecessary Movement.
(But Not So Tight That Your Fingers Turn Blue. )

No, but many watch box pillows have a yard centre with minimal padding.

If that is the case, then the bracelet won’t close around the pillow or be extremely tight.

Exactly. On my case it gets extremely tight when the bracelet is closed, to the point that looks like it's going to damage the bracelet (although now I know that many people don't think that's possible; I am not willing to risk it though).

Sorry. I meant “hard” centres but you got the point. Autocorrect strikes again!

I agree. I don’t want my watches under constant strain when stored either.

No problem. Hopefully someone can make use of it.

Just to explain, wolf did a ad campaign on my Instagram account and set up the code for the duration. So the ad I got paid for but the code and whoever uses it, I get nothing from.

Hope it helps someone .

Guys,

Thank you for your suggestions. I was doing some research on these boxes you mentioned. My question now is: on the Wolf boxes, is the Windsor line worth the extra money or the are simpler cheaper ones enough?
Thank you!

Fraz, I'd be careful with any watch box that doesn't have fully soft pillows.

If you struggle to squish the Rolex box cushion small enough, I doubt you'll find the Wolf ones small enough.
