Trade up? Tudor BB GMT for Rolex 114060

Have an opportunity to trade my Tudor BB GMT for Sub 114060 paying the difference of course. I am a fan of both watches and would hate to trade away a potential "classic" in the Tudor GMT but I am missing a Sub in the collection. What say you TRF? easy call?

No tudor will ever be a classic... this is the first of many tudor GMTs - look how many blackbays weve had in 2 years

Well, you can’t have had it very long. But if it’s what you want then do it.i woildnt. I’d add. The Tudor is a great watch for the cash.

Tell this to the guys selling vintage Tudor 75XXX and 79XXX Tudor models for $5k+. They'll contest your claims.

Maybe you can also ask anyone who sold their Tudor rose logo ETA watches for less than MSRP after they came out how that decision is working out for them since they're now worth $1k+ over that.

But yeah...nothing of note, I guess.

Yes correct, have only had it two weeks. It's selling more on the second hand market than what I paid for it so the trade in value is a little higher. Don't want to miss my window if the price drops although seems Tudor has been holding its value better these days.

If you can make money from selling it and putting it towards a sub, then sure, go for it. Especially since you are already thinking about selling the GMT anyway before the honeymoon even ended (couldn't have been that much of a love affair to begin with.)

I own both, the 114060 was my first love but the gmt gets much more wrist time now, especially as it’s actually more useful with the date and gmt complication....it’s also very good value so I’m less worried about how I treat it. Tough call really and only you know the answer. Potentially you might be able to reacquire the gmt for less than rrp in the future.

Once the thought crosses your mind to let a piece go she might as well already be gone.

Here’s the play (if you truly like both and these are your top 2 watches...but if you really want a 116610 with a date or a GMT Master II, you’ll be pissed you “settled” just because the trade was available):

1) Trade only if you can get more in value than you paid AND you’re getting a good price overall for the sub
2) The market will be flooded with Tudor GMTs in six months, so no worries if you want to buy back in, which you’ll be able to do at a discount
3)Celebrate a sweet 2-watch collection (assuming these are your only two)
4) Add a speedy pro and a nice dress watch and you’re set for all occasions. :)

Rolex, Rolex, Rolex. I traded red dial B.B., and cash for 6 digit sub date.have bought a DJ41 since.
However am thinking about trading Omega Broad Arrow, for Tudor GMT, no cash.

I wouldn’t trade a BB for a six digit Sub, but I would for a 5-digit or older Sub.

GMT and date function vs time only? That's what you should really be asking yourself. If you've always wanted the sub though just go for it. Both are awesome watches.

I get what you're saying in regards to modern, but who really knows.

The GMT is a pretty big watch, if you love the sub go for it...you wrist is probably used to the bulky modern sub anyways! No Tudor will ever be a classic... wow

No-one would have predicted the Daytona would be the most expensive watch in auction in 1963/4. No telling what will happen with any watch. We'll see with the BBN ETA and the 116600 however. There is no doubt that the 114060 isn't destined for classic status. Hard to tell with the GMT as it's so new.
