Who else plays guitar around here??

Just wanted to know where all our guitarist are?

I have played for 43 years. Was lead guitarist in several rock bands 22 of those years. Played every weekend. Got bored with it and now I just play for myself.

And remember: If its too loud, then your too old!

I've been playing for almost 11 years now. Was always a musical child, played violin for 5 years, got bored with that, played bass for a while, then moved to guitar and never turned back. Was raised on the blues, and thats mostly what I play now, along with some old 50's classics and classic rock stuff. Never really been "in" a band, played bass for a 50's cover band for a while, and other than that I just go to jam sessions or open mic nights. I play mainly for myself, keeps me sane and allows me to unwind after a stressful day, although nothing really beats (for me anyways) having someone you never met compliment you and your playing after you finish your set and get off the stage. Sure beats having your parents yell "turn it down" all the time, to which my response is "hey, I could have taken up the drums"

I also enjoy collecting music gear. Just bought a Tweed Fender Blues Jr. and it kicks about 10 different kinds of a**. Also have a 1956 Tweed Fender Champ, a 1976 Fender Champ, a Mesa Boogie F-30, Just sold my early 80's Marshall JCM800 to buy the Blues Jr. Guitar wise, between my father and I we have about 30 guitars, various homebuilt and Vintage Japanese stuff. I love Mexican Fender Stratocasters, both of mine blow my american strat out of the water for both sound and playability. I have a SRV signature Strat, a 1993 mexican and a 1998 mexican strat, a 1975 Gibson Flying V, a Taylor 312CE acoustic and an old Silvertone acoustic that was rescued from being scrap wood.

I just said I've been a professional bass player for 22 years. I didn't say anything about talent.

You have struck a raw nerve here I will not be able to catch any sleep tonight All my life I've been besotted about guitars and guitar players. I've even took a couple of lessons. A brick plays better guitar than I

So no, I don't play guitar for real. But in my secret dreams I'm Alex van Halen, Rory Gallagher, Biréli Lagrène, Jan Akkerman, Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen and the great Django Reinhardt all in one.

I'm the follicaly-challenged one on the far left. I was doubling on keyboards at the time forcing me to hover around them when needed.

Wow, Dan... Your Gretsch is pretty unique. Arch top, hollow body, trapeze tailpiece, forward pickup is way up there next to the neck. You'd think that would make for a pretty soft sound. Gretsch is one of those great old names that have been around forever. I remember being infatuated q/Paul McCartney's "violin bass" in the '60's... another hollow body bass. It's always fun to perform. Keep up the good work...

I've ben playing for about 10 years.

I've got a 1978 Marshall Valve Amp (this is one of the best amps you will ever see/hear)
I've got a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Yamaha Semi-Acoustic, a Squire Strat (plays like a dream but has S*H*I*T pickups) and an Epiphone acoustic.

I'm getting my loft boarded out in the new year so i goig to move all my gear up there and practice like i mean it.

Thanks, Pat. Been getting into hollow bodies since starting an acoustic band. Could never find an acoustic bass that fit the bill and believe me, I tried many. Also use this hot rodded Dean that works pretty good too.
Typically use both pickups but when extra oomph is needed I'll use the font pickup only.....................hold on to your eggnog.

Is that Mesa a Mk I, II or III Jocke? I tried many out, and I really wanted to like them, but could never find one that fit my playing. Always found them very "touchy" amps. Very nice in the right hands though....

I try and play funky acoustic guitar like this http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mshXfb2H9eA

I'm completely useless at using a pick or trying to play electric :)
