Lady Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust

Just bought my first pre-owned Rolex on a cruise ship, how can I tell if any parts was replaced by after market? Been wearing the watch daily, only take it off at night and it stopped working this morning, is this normal? Should I call up for full service of the watch or have it returned?
Thanks in advance for your inputs

honestly..if you are within the return window..I would just return it and get your money back...
if you hang around here enough...buying a used rolex on a cruise ship is not advised...
good luck...

I found this forum today, would you care to elaborate a bit more on why it's not advised? the watch was bought on the 21st of this month, so I am pretty sure it can be returned........thank you!
btw, if I decide to buy a pre-owned, where is the best place to get it?
the one I bought if brand new would cost close to 20k not including tax, I paid 11k for it since it's pre-owned

there are more watch collectors and aficionados on this site (including myself)

buying used Rolex is not a big deal but the history and the seller need to be trustworthy..you will hear "buy the seller" a lot on the forum

Cruise ship sellers are an unknown entity...hence not advised...used parts thrown together, service history, etc...

have you tried to wind it 30-40 times? wearing it alone will not be enough power to keep it going...

good luck...

The past two cruises I have been on and they had used rolexes for sale. The watches were older models and the were charging ridiculous prices. A lot had aftermarket diamond faces too. You could find a lot better and cleaner examples here.

Are you able to post some photos of the watch? Sometimes that will help people here determine if it has aftermarket dials, bezels, ect.

Having aftermarket parts is more than enough of a reason to return, especially if you've paid too much for a non-fully original watch.

I would return the watch. 11k for a 1993 seems a bit steep to me.

The sales person at the shop told me the watch was made in 2004, however when I checked the series number 69173 on the net, it was made between 1993-1995

So hopefully that's enough of a reason for a return, since the year was not stated on the pre-owned certificate, will check later today when I get home to see if there are after market parts on the watch, should have done my homework before buying

That is definitely more than enough to return this. They lied to you. Case closed. They also probably charged you 8-9k too much.

What letter does your serial number start with? The will give a year range on older watches.

function,
I believe the Model starts with an S

Rick,
That's what I want to do now, I saw a brand new watch on Rolex.com datejust 28MM for close to 20k, will look closely at the certificate and call up SwissCrown to return, hopefully they will accept it

What ladies DJ is 20k? My wife and I just looked at brand new DJ31 which I thought was overpriced @ 11.xk brand new.

If you like the watch and wind it and it works keep it. Don’t return it because 5 strangers told you too. You made an emotional purchase and liked it enough to do it so if it checks out keep and enjoy it. Next time out go into it informed.

To post a pic- Click on Go Advanced below the reply window. Click on the paper clip icon. Navigate to the pic on your hard drive. Click upload. The pic may be too large, so you might have to pare it down to size. That's the part that keeps me from posting very many pics here. Good luck.
