BB 58 First Impressions

Arrived in today from the UK. First impressions are that it is perfect and wears super comfortably on the wrist. Love the size on my 7 1/4" wrists. Wears slightly smaller than the Speedy that I was wearing today. Gold accents on bezel are just fine. Might be more blingy on a larger watch, but given the small size, matte bezel and dial they give it a very nice vintage flair. Planning to wear it as my "one watch" for awhile so will update. My collection is fairly minimal, and I plan to wear the hell out of this watch for the near future.

Comparisons below to the Speedy Pro because that is what I had on at work when package arrived.

Looks great. What's the lug-to-lug dimension on the 58? Seems to wear larger than it's 39mm diameter (which I like).

That's really lovely. Definitely a future purchase for me. More so if they do a 58 GMT model.

looks great.

want to hear your long term feedback as I'm thinking this might be redundant with my 14060m as my primary.

Might wait and see if other colors/dials come out or if my wish of a 40mm Pelagos happens.

this is a tag/subscription.

Nice pics too!

BB58 looks great! Can't wait to see what else Tudor does with the new, smaller movement.

It’s a beautiful watch and I think it’s more attractive then a sub.

I like it a lot, but why does the case have to be so thick for same depth rating as a sub?

I'm not sure what you mean, have you checked the specs?
The BB 58 is 11.9 mm thick with a 200 m water resistance and the Submariner is 12.8 mm thick, with a 300 m water resistance.

Black Bay 58 Thickness: 11.9mm, 200m wr
1680 Submariner Thickness: 14.0mm, 200m wr
14060 Submariner Thickness: 12.3mm, 300m wr
6 digit Sub C thickness: 12.8mm, 300m wr

BB58 dimensions are most comparable to the old 4 digit sub and thinner than all the modern Sub references. Of course the 4 digit sub had a large domed acrylic crystal which contributed to it's thickness.

A Pelagos with BB58 proportions is the absolute end-game for me. Screw Patek's and Daytona's : )
