Serial Number varification

Hello Everyone -

How do I verify if the serial number on my DateJust is real or fake?? I've had some suspicion about my watch..The watch is a 91 1/2 but has polished lugs.

I had the movement checked over the wknd and they said it was legit..However, I don't believe they made the DateJust with polished lugs which concerns me.

What do you mean? The serial number is just a serial number. If fake how do we know?

Also some fakes have a serial number where the numbers are stamped a little bit to close, I shall se if I can find a link with a sample........

Any Rolex with a few years on it can have polished lugs..... Some people like the look.

If you don't, it is a simple matter to have the tops brushed properly..

As for authentication, you authenticate the watch, not the serial number, so if the proper movement is there then it is likely authentic..

Hi, if you posts pics here, we should be able to tell by looking at the serial number. Most counterfeits have lazer etched serial numbers which appear different than the factory stamped serial numbers. Some counterfeiters also stamp the numbers, but they never match the factory Rolex stampings.

Look forward to some pics if you have a good macro camera. Also, an authorized dealer should be able to help verify the serial number. You can also have any reputable watchmaker restore the matt finish to the lugs.
