Favorite places in Manhattan

Will be in Manhattan tomorrow night and will be there for a few days. What are some of your favorite spots to eat/visit?

Pack a jacket, it's a chilly forecast the next couple of days.

Head to Midtown, check out the Wempe store on 5th Ave (there are many other watch maker boutiques close by).

Hit up Nobu Fifty Seven if you're into sushi, Fresco by Scotto for Italian or Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House.

You might also pop into the Bar Room at The Modern for a drink.

Take the big apple tour around Manhattan, sit on the top deck - its a fun ride. Also try the Fiat cafe for a nice pasta dish: https://fiatcafenyc.com/

Blue Note for some Jazz
Zuma, Morimoto, Nobu for Sushi

Walk around if you can. Also Nobu Downtown is near Freedom Tower so I would choose that location...enjoy.

What stuff you looking to do and what types of food do you like? That could narrow down the recommendations.

My favorite part of town to stay and shop in is Soho. Favorite restaurant in that area is Spring Naturals on Kenmare St. I go to NY twice a year just for fun. Always see at least one Broadway show, visit the high end department stores uptown, and window shop the grey market watch guys on 47th St. Walk lots and ride the subway, no place like it on earth.

Just know that Peter Luger's accepts cash only. No credit cards. At least they didn't the last time I was there. Steak for two with the fixins and a drink or two will run you $150-$200.

Worth every nickel.

If you can't get to Peter Luger's, Wolfgang's is a carbon copy of the Luger model. Wolfgang was the head waiter at Luger's. I think the one on Park has the best ambiance and decor to match the old steakhouse feel.

Oh yes, Peter Luger is the place for steak. Still cash only and not so easy to get in last minute. Even with a reservation we had to wait...one thing to note, it is technically located in Brooklyn just over the Williamsburg bridge. Close enough however ;-)

Daniel may be the best restaurant in the world.

There are top notch restaurants in the mall at Columbus Circle (57th Street and CPS). Per Se is one.

We ate at Batard in TriBeCa last week. Very good. Michelin Star.

I second Wempe. Boutiques a short walk away: Audemars Piguet, IWC, Panerai, JLC, Journe and Lange.

Have fun. We live 30 minutes from Manhattan and it is pretty chilly now after a long warm spell.

Chelsea market for los tacos number 1 and very fresh noodles.

Other half in Brooklyn if you’re a beer geek. Raines law room if you’re a cocktail geek. Radegast in Williamsburg if you like beer gardens (the one under the high line attached to the standard if you don’t want to go to bk)

Sleep no more if you want a hell of an experience that is really unrivaled in the city and possibly the country

Best bagel for the absolute best egg sandwich you’ll ever eat. Plan on waiting in line 20mins. It’s a few blocks from Harold square. I can’t visit without going it’s that good.

Now I want to get in my car and head east lol

My lord, two out of three of those are chains, and Fresco might as well be!

Go someplace they don't have anywhere else. Peter Luger, Minetta Tavern, Keens, Katz's, Union Square Cafe, Upland, Carbone, Cosme, Il Buco, Frank, Cafe Sabarsky, Sushi Nakazawa, Sushi Yasuda, En.

Oh, and contrary to what two other posts have said, Peter Luger DOES accept debit cards, just not CREDIT cards. I was just there today. Is there anyone who doesn't have a debit card?

Katz deli - where Harry met Sally.

They make the sandwich right in front of you in a 'theatrically cranky service'. The place, #whereharrymetsally, was busy and packed but fast turnover. The best smoked sandwiched that I've tasted so far.
Highly recommended if you're in NY. Better than Schwartzdeli of Montreal.

Damn guys, just as I figured you guys came above and beyond with all of the recommendations of things to do! I’ve looked up every single spot and am going to try to get to several of them. The jazz idea is great too. Really looking forward to that! Had pizza at joes last night shortly after I landed. Unbelievable how good it was! I’ll keep you guys updated on the spots I’m able to get to. Thanks again.

I’d like to try Per Se someday, but a word of warning. It is extremely expensive and not for the faint of heart. Their “PRIX FIXE” option is $340/pp. Now, admittedly, this includes tip, but it’s still outrageously expensive for the average person.
Btw, to DJ TT 2002, you have excellent taste in restaurants!
