1963 5512 with 2 line gilt chapter ring exclamation mark dial but 1560 movement?
Hi Folks,
I've been offered a very nice condition 1963 5512 with a 2 line (in gold) chapter ring exclamation mark dial but with a 1560 movement. Having done my research, this watch should really have a 1530 non chronometer movement but there does seems to be some cross over during this time both with dials and movements. My hunch is that the dial is carry over from 1961/1962 and they'd started using the 1560 by 1963 or the original 1530 was replaced with 1560 during a service. Any views gratefully received! Mike |

Thanks for responding Greekbum - I am getting some more pics shortly. I assume you mean pics of case back confirming year of manufacture/movement/serial and ref numbers between lugs?

Thanks Lee! It is the movement that concerns me... the dealer is a good guy but I'm not sure his knowledge is where it needs to be on this watch! He says it's a 1560 movement which could work (from what I've read) even though you would expect a 1530 with the 2 line dial version...the watch is in v good condition....and the price he's asking is very reasonable (because he got it for a good price himself apparently!) but this may be due to movement issue! Will get pics asap.

Take a look here and I think you will see that the movement is fine.

Many thanks Lee - that's what I'm thinking and the dial itself is a carry over from 61/62 as per the info in your link (which I'd read somewhere else). I will get pics of movement etc though to be sure. The dealer is prepared to sell it to me for 30K GBP which if it all checks out seems like a goodish deal compared to what else I've seen on the market...still a big chunk of money though so need to be damn sure about it! Love the watch so hoping it all checks out. Mike
