Ap rose gold

Hey guys looking to pull the trigger on a 15400or. I have owned Rolex rose gold and love the fact that they never loose that rose gold colour or have any issues with it fading. I heard that ap had issues in the past of the rose changing colour over time looking more like yellow gold. Can someone confirm if this is true or maybe educate me on the process ap used to ensure that the rose gold always retains its colour. I would really appreciate the feedback

My I series RG44 ROO hasn’t faded at all. No idea what AP does, but the color is great and consistent.

Thanks Greg I’m more concerned with how it will hold up over time. I serial is relatively new if I’m not mistaken

No the colour does not turn, but the AP RG mix is more yellowish than Rolex's copper, which I like.

Anyone w a gold AP should hold it next to a new one.

There is a change from new.

Not that it’s a big deal but when I needed a plot changed on my RG ROO, the new plot looked ‘new’ vs the others.

On my RG ROC, same thing. After a while, the gold changes its luster.

Only way to confirm is to put it next to a new one.

That’s one to the things w Rolex’s gold - it does not change.

Does it loose the rose colour? I just don’t want to buy a rose gold watch and it starts shifting its colour to yellow that would defeat the purpose of me buying this watch

I had a 39MM ROC in RG that was easily 10 years old. The color never transitioned to YG, I would say it was slightly less "pink" than a new RG AP but actually preferred the color. It is also possible AP used less bronze in their RG 10 years ago. RG IMO is much nicer on AP than Rolex - as I am typing this wearing a RG Presidential haha.

Let’s hope not I just picked up my new ap 15400or on bracelet. As much as I love the watch I cannot say I prefer it over my rg day date (maybe Because I love the olive dial that much). This is my first ap that I have owned and can definitely say I am impressed with the finishing and heft of the watch, glad I took the plunge

Some colour comparison pics between the AP RG and Rolex RG would be great !

I’ve always felt Rolex to be a lot more coppery vs. AP which is a truer pink gold colour.

Fabulous shot and pair - they both look great. The AP is certainly less red than the president. Have you got a colour preference between the two?

I can’t say I prefer one over the other. I feel the everrose blends into my skin a bit better and the ap is more of a contrast.

From my own experience I can tell you that it depends firstly on your skins chemistry.
If you have oilier skin (which most people don't), then you can sometimes, depending on how clean you keep your watch, have slightly darker spots after years of wear on the back near the lugs. You can check for yourself and see this on all older models that have not been polished.
I have attached a pic as an example.

The second thing you need to keep in mind, is that again in MY experience, Rolex RG watches have polished cases for the most part, and even the brushed part of the bracelet and caseback are not brushed as deep as AP watches are. Because AP's are finished with mostly brushed surfaces it leads me to believe that perhaps the 'pores' of the surfaces are more open than that of Rolex's polished surface, and chemical mixtures like cologne and moisturizers, creams, even body sweats and oils etc can more easily get into the open pores.
So in conclusion, you should try and keep your RG AP's as clean as possible.
That being said, its a watch and meant to be worn and enjoyed!

I second this, Rolex RG is really pink esp on an oyster bracelet, part of the reason I traded my Sky and CHNR...AP RG is perfection, and I have yet to notice any discoloration.
