It’s a tool watch after all.

Building a bookshelf for my little son. Most other watches I have would have been taken off for this project. I decided to keep this one on. It is a tool watch, isn’t it? What better than passing it down to my son and telling him “it’s the watch I wore while building your bookshelf”?

Personally I'd likely use hammer, nails, and a saw. The watch won't work as well!!!

I think the watch is tough and can take a knock or two, but I never wear any jewelry when working with power tools. In a battle between a watch and a power tool, I'm going to lose that one.

Hey there Fellow Houstonian!

I was thinking about that as I was using a jigsaw that was shaking my hand rather vigorously. Then I wondered if that vibration is any worse than a shopping cart vibration when used outdoors... or if it's any worse than being in a car on a very bumpy or gravel road... I'm not going to take off my watch after shopping or while driving... I'm not a slave to my watch and if I'm constantly taking it off, might as well just buy a quartz instead.

There are plenty who wore a single Rolex for years and years without giving it a break. I think this modern Rolex can handle a little shaking from using a power tool.

Hey there.... it is a cool project. I like it.

It's not the vibrations that would concern me, I think the watch can take it. But I never wear jewelry, even a watch, with power tools because accidents can happen. Especially with rings. If a ring gets caught up in a tool it can take your finger off. I think less risk with a watch but you never know.

I'm usually pretty safe with power tools and never had an accident. But the closest I came I did something really stupid and that after all is why they call them accidents. Something you don't plan on. I was using a saws-all and had put the tool down to inspect something. I took my safety glasses off to get a better look. I needed to cut a nail and for that one cut I didn't put my safety glasses back on. Literally just that one time. The blade pulled back and the tip hit a 2x4 and the blade went forward and bent and snapped the blade, the tip wizzed right past my left eye, maybe 2-3 inches from my eye. Never made that mistake again. I like my eyes too much. Not trying to be preachy, just better safe than sorry. Plus I was working alone that day, would have been my first ride in an ambulance. Dodged a bullet... or a blade.

It's a challenging one for sure!!!

And a boat for my oldest son:




That airplane will be for my youngest son. Curving the wood above and under the wings will definitely cause a bit of a challenge. Looking forward to seeing the finished product as well :)

They can definitely cope with sawdust just fine... but not so well with scratches on their AR coated sapphires.
