Dumb question

Is there any way to set the exact time on a watch without a hacking mechnism?

I guess the only way is to wait for it to stop and set the seconds in accordance with wherever they happened to stop.

With a number of non hacking watches you can pull the crown out to the time setting position then turn it slightly counterclockwise and it will stop the movement. Give it a try.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

Do this before you fully wind it.

Why?????

All my Rollies "free spool" it's hard to tell when they're fully wound.

The Omega I can tell for sure, but whats the deal with "hacking" a non hack when fully wound?

John it just depends on the watch. Sometimes the mainspring at full power over rides the ability to stop the seconds hand.

I have one GMT where this is true. Panerai is another brand where this happens.
