15400 existing orders

Hi All

I ordered and paid in full for a 15400 about a week ago with an expected delivery time of 2-3 weeks. Do you think this is now a no go and they have already stopped production? If so, I guess I'd better grown to like the 15500 more

A mate of mine told me that he had placed the order for 15400 and made payment as well.AD called him today to update that all 15400 orders will be upgraded to 15500 and the difference amount will need to be paid at the time of delivery. First shipment that boutiques will receive for 15500, they said, would be in June.

That is so not commercial to ask customer to pay for the price difference!!

Maybe. But I think even on their invoice it says that the price at the time of delivery would apply. Not sure, not my call. Just advised what I know.

They said they've not heard anything yet so I'll guess we'll wait and see. If it transpires I'll need to pay extra for the 500 (which I like less) I'll probably give it a miss

as of now and without seeing it IRL i probably wouldn't get the 15500. I think the 15400 is just about perfect and the positives of the 15500 (date window, movement) are less than the negatives IMO so i would try to source a 15400 instead. I really, really dont like the fat hour markers at all

I suspect more people will like the new hour markers as it makes it a lot sportier looking but it loses a lot of the RO charm.

I’m pretty sure if you give them a bit of hard time they will let you get the 15500 for same price as 15400.
You already did them a huge favor by paying upfront the full price without seeing anything. This practice for instance is not authorized in Asia for any AP AD.

they wont. Same thing happens all the time with price increases. If the price goes up when awaiting delivery, you pay the difference. Tons of threads on that every time the price goes up.

Best case they will refund the money for the 15400 since they cant supply that. If you want a different watch (15500) then the price paid will be applied to the alternative watch, you still owe the difference.

What if the client doesn't like the 15500? Force to take?

Well in that specific case is a bit different than a price increase.
It’s a total change of what he paid for.

Yet to see the 15500 irl so opinion might change but for now I prefer the 15400. More so as 15500 doesn't comes with silver dial. The only improvement over the "older" 3120 movement is longer PR which in my case, practically pointless since I seldom wear the same watch more than 2 days.

I'm guessing (rightly or wrongly) that it depends when they actually stopped production. If the AD was expecting it within a few weeks, surely they would already have some finished pieces allocated

what dial were you supposed to be getting?

Grey, as believe it or not, that was the shortest quoted wait. White and black dials were 8-10 weeks

i was thinking since the silver is not available in the 15500 that one may still trickle out if they had additional 15400s ready to ship and just make excess stock automatically silver dials. It would make zero sense to ship additional blue, grey, or black if they are launching the replacement.

Wow. Reading this thread, I just learned the 15400 is discontinued. Taking a lesson from what has happened with Rolex, I will gladly sell mine for 4x what I paid. Just kidding. I haven't sold any watch I've ever bought and don't plan to.
