Rolex submariner no date vs Rolex explorer

I'm thinking of purchasing my first rolex. I would be interested in any insight on the prices of the two, with the economy pretty bad, what percentage discount should I ask for. I was talking to a rolex ad, and she gave me a figure of 4680 for the rolex submariner with no date. From reading these forums, I'm thinking its quite high. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I would aim for 10% off MSRP for minimum, aim for 20% off. She might go higher for the Explorer.

Does Explorer II have white gold hands and position markers like the Submariner?

The Sub no-date is one of my favorites, but it was the Explorer that won my heart.

4680? i sure hope you are talking canadian currency. My AD gave me the price of 4500 canadian dollars all tax included for the submariner. so in conversion it's like 3900 us dollars. give her you final price and your phone number when she changes her mind tell her to give you a call.

I wanted the Submariner too. But the Submariner is very recognizeable. And I didn't want people to notice or draw attention. Yet, I'm wearing my long sleeve over my Rolex everyday. Maybe, I should have got the Submariner.

The Sub has a the Bezel stop watch. But the Explorer has that second time zone. I have my red hand set to Swiss time, since I lived in Switzerland for one month.

I think price increase is long overdue in Canada.

In my opinion you should ALWAYS push for at least a 20% discount.

actually we had some price increase here. the actual retail price for a submariner i believe is 5500 plus tax so it goes up 6500 canadian if no discount.
