As of this week, my Rolex watches will be gone.

The Daytona is sold, and my Submariner has a pending offer. And the Datejust I wanted? Not right now.

Gone too are the tube amplifiers and our "never gonna sell 'em" speakers.

My wife needs the money for her start-up business.

A little background:
I moved across the country in order to get a better paying job, so that she could quit her day job and just focus on her business. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to do it. I adore my wife. Naturally, I didn't hesitate to put everything up for sale when she asked. I know how hard it was for her to make that request of me. Of course, if the business takes off, I'll be able to replace these things. But it stings a little, as you all can imagine. I happen to like the feeling of seeing a Rolex on my wrist...it makes me smile.

OK, I'm done whining. And thank you for your ear.

I think all of us hit bumps in the road throughout our lives, and Rolexes will be around forever! Once things become stable again, you will once again get the watch of your choice (Rolex Of Course), and will love it even more!

Yeah, it does suck but I look at the sale as an investment in your future. If nothing else, it demonstrates your solid relationship to your wife. When the business makes bank, you can cash in some chips for new toys.

We know that feeling.
My parents lost thier house, and cars back in 2006, and in turn to help them out, I sold my first and only Sub (a SS Sub Date) I bought in 2002.
Sure it does suck, but look on the bright side, you both have your health, and can most likely get another in the future. Same with me, just keep your head up, and you'll get everything back.

Hang in there, my friend. I have started 2 businesses and gone through rough times, but in the end everything works out. The MOST important thing is that you are both there to support each other. Believe me, it is a beautiful feeling to buy that Rolex when your business hits your first sales goal.

Watches, pens, diamonds, etc all can be sold. Make sure you don't risk your house. That would be my bottom line no matter what.

No house to lose. We passed when the prices were skyrocketing, and put money into the development of the business instead.

I can't say any better what everyone on here has already said Boa, best of luck with your (wife's) business, you ARE doing the right thing, there IS such a force in the universe as Karma (call it what you want), and you WILL achieve Rolexism again, probably a LOT sooner then you thought. (Maybe you'll be able to hook up with one of the TRFers and get a good deal on a DJ, or older sub, or GMT or AirKing or something just to keep that feeling on your wrist)? No matter what, DO stay on the forum. Ownership and income are not requirements to be a TRFer, just an appreciation for fine timepieces and to be a decent human being; you definitely qualify.
