Is the Kermit overpriced?

Hi

I want a Kermit, how much should I pay for one? How much have prices gone up the last few years? Are they just marked up high now, but nothing moving?

I want to wear it, and it won't be just kept in a box. So I think there is no point paying a premium for the Flat 4.

Thanks

Hi op.

Have a look on chrono 24. They have a good selection.

Many selling don’t know what to price them at so they hedge on the high side. Like the 16710.

Buy the cheapest roughest one and send it to RSC for a rebuild and 2yr warranty if you want to enjoy the watch by wearing it.

Think you may need a bit more , more like £13k plus condition, set depending.

If you are talking USD, we are looking at 11k+ GBP in the UK. I am just trying to work out if it is too much or not!

The 16610lv is only going up in price. Similar to the 16710. If you want one I’d go for it sooner rather than later. As said above, send to RSC for service and warranty.

BTW, with this reference i would buy seller above all else.

I’ll put it this way...if I was going to pay $15-$18k for s Stainless Steel watch (or even 12-15) - it would NOT be on a fairly modern Rolex Submariner.

For those prices - ALL KINDS of amazing vintage pieces are on the table...and not forgetting about other brands and more complications....

Just my .02

On Chrono 24 I can see a rough one at £10,250 (watches of Knightsbridge), and a good as new condition one at £15,490 (private seller). And finally a brand new one for £17500 (Watches and Jewellry Bond street).

On ebay there are a couple at £11,500-£12,500

I personally would rather not go through dealer, as there will be a £2k hit straight away.

Agree 100%! except for the fairly Modern Submariner part... the LV is a limited run Anniversary Piece... get one now before they are really out of reach.

That’s the best advice for someone that wants to enjoy the watch. By the way that is a watch that offers a lot to the wearer. Beautifully shaped 5 digit case, maxi dial and maxi hands that make the watch look bigger and more modern look than the normal 5 digit subs, really easier in the eyes to read and that slash of green that makes it different and more fun ( my opinion ). The fact that it is also a special 50th edition with not as many out there makes it even more special than it already is.
You have the right mind set. I truly hope you find one and enjoy the heck out of it.

The so called flat four inserts are now being used as service replacements for the so called pointed four inserts. And yes IMHO the flat four 16610LV are very overpriced for what they are.

I would say 12-13k for worn but unpolished full set, the 15-18k for LNIB..based on my research and watch recon.

Regarding this whole flat four business..I saw a trusted seller touting a flat 4 insert in a Sea Dweller...where does it end.

Based on what you're saying, go for it and in this case the premium is worth it because you want the watch to enjoy. Unfortunately I do find this watch way overpriced in today's market, but it is what is. That is the state of collecting today and they aren't making anymore.
Find one in good condition with a price you can stomach and enjoy your watch.

I love the watch but I just can't accept the price when I consider what I can get for that same amount.

+1. For a bit more than market price on a 16610lv you can basically get a 126710 with premium from grey.

I think that they are very overpriced. I don't know if things will change, there are good arguments to be made for both sides, though why a mass made watch should be seen as a store of value is very peculiar to me?

It’s crazy how they have gone up in price. My biggest issue was I did not like the bracelet. Yea I know could source a glidelock for 2k but never wanted to spend that extra money.

I have only had one watch regret 3 years ago when I was not in the market to buy something davidsw had a Kermit on glidelock for 7500. I really should have bought that. I would have then got a black insert and bezel and been done.

Still love my sub c date but option to have two bezels and the glidelock would have trumped that.

I recently acquired a 2006 unpolished full set w original receipt purchased in 2006 (then $6k). Sacrificed trading 2 very nice R watches plus $ back to me but do not regret it in the least. My favorite attribute is the dimensions of the case and Maxi dial/hands and the lume is truly amazing. I would look for a used full complete set from a trusted seller on here if funds allow & as for current retail they can be had $12k -$13k. GL on your search.

Grossly overpriced and will IMO correct soon. These are very nice watches, don’t get me wrong, but there are 10’s of thousands of them. They aren’t rare, and only the original release is an actual “anniversary “ model...the rest are regular production that lasted for years. In my opinion this is one of the examples of how silly this has gotten. This, along with the modern stainless Daytona really showcase the nonsense that occurs when investors and speculators get involved in a hobby.
