Pledge membership is for the calendar year. Not for 365 days from pledge date.
Your 2018 pledge expired in Mid January. This is explained in the pledge post.

PM Steve Lol-x for further clarification.

it clearly says 'on an annual basis' this means every year, i did read before i pledged,

if i had have known it meant january to january i would have waited.

Do you think its clear and obvious?

i think its pretty clear. A rolling calendar year individual for each member would present some serious logistical concerns to keep up with so i would in no way assume annual means anything other than Jan to Jan.

sorry but you are quite wrong,
annual means annual, my annual golf subs are from when i joined,
my annual mobile phone contract is from when i joined,
my annual t.v. licence is from when i took it out,

for you to say its pretty clear is nonsense,

its pretty unclear,

it would have been just as easy to have written in the rules that pledges run from january to january, then it would have been crystal clear,

Agree?

you are complaining about a donation. Are you upset that you are not getting credit for that donation for a longer period of time in the form of a special designation? It also says 2019 pledge member. Your name said 2018 pledge member underneath it, so in your title it specified the year to which you were a pledge member for.

Seems strange to get bent out of shape

Seems clear to me.

A small donation to keep the forum running is well worth not seeing advertising.

Since you are the first and only person I can recall ever having this misunderstanding, I would say yes.

Just pay it and be done. This forum gives back way more than it takes in.

Move on, it's over.

Being a Pledge Member has a lot of benefits, I wouldn't think twice and donate to be a 2019 Pledge Member. Please do it and enjoy TRF!

It is what it is and it's been explained to you.

You can either accept it or reject it.

It is, as pointed out, a donation to the forum to help keep it going.

There is one thing, though, membership is completely voluntary and no one will twist your arm to participate.

It seems pretty clear on the current instructions. As said, at the end of the day it's a donation to keep the forum running without advertising as a financial support mechanism.

I can see his point, that late in the year would have been nice to be notified or held off until January.

maybe if you were buying season tickets to something 2 days before the season and paying full price. Because its a donation, its a donation so the time period no matter if unclear or not doesn't matter. Thats how i look at it. You are not paying for a product or service unless more PM space is really essential.

I dont think its unclear though. I guess anyone can interpret anything in a different way though

I'll stick to my opinion that comes from running a very successful business in a competitive and tough area for decades. There would be no costs to granting his request, I would likely get future work from him in this case donations, as it is that's likely not going to happen. And it's just nice and the right thing to do. I'm not as smart has most of the posters here I guess, to me the wording was never very clear, to me that is.

i get where you are coming from however granting that request and then what's to stop everyone else from saying i donated in March, so i want my extra 3 months too. Or June or July.

I guess if you are willing to complain then it must be a bid deal so yeah. I would give it to him. Just did actually

I knew this would eventually be the outcome when a thread was started. A simple IM to a mod may have been all that was necessary to rectify instead of arguing in the open with members.

Reading is fundamental, but the generosity of others is inspiring.

Good on you T.

I’m not sure it’s logistically difficult to put a 12 month expiration date on a membership anymore. Seems like a small bit of coding fixes that on most website platforms these days.

And, the OP owes you lunch.

OP clearly read the 2019 pledge sticky in the open discussion forum and not the one in the Rolex general discussion forum.

Mods, please update.

Is it ok to pledge after you've been banned? Asking for a... guy, who can read but doesn't comprehend well.

more importantly do you get your money back

here is one... what if you get banned AND win the giveaway because you entered before that happened? Where do you post the incoming thread

its nothing to do with the money, i think its incredible value, saved me from buying a pile of crap instead of my superb daydate, and that info would have been free anyway,

its when people tell me i read something wrong that winds me up, i know what i read,
i read the sticky and that's what i went by,

i am not bothered anymore, i will pledge again.
