I prefer the Glidelock on the PM Subs to the GMT Masters, but I think the YG GMT Master, black dial is the most versatile. Most comfortable though are Daytonas imo

At first I hated the GMT green dial and I have come full circle and now love it. I would put it as number one.

For me, it’s my 116618 LN Submariner. Favorite in my collection.

Looks fantastic....I’ve just never had a black dial / yellow gold combo, especially to wear with blue jeans, T-shirts etc....

The Glidelock is a must on a gold watch. I prefer the blue dial Sub.

Thanks Larry. I’m with you, I’m just wondering what the collection of minds here think as “most” versatile. I’m contemplating a black dial version, but wondering how the outside world views a black dial, YG combo, as far as versatility. Pretty tight voting so far.

Next to the DD in rose/YG I think the Sub blue in all YG is the most beautiful watch out there.

I'm a Blue guy but the black Subc is the quietest of the quartet and so most versatile for me, but I'd have a SS for that and get the best looking one which is the Bluesy for me.

Has to be the black Sub.
Less busy (cleaner) bezel than the GMT and a more sedate dial compared to the sunburst blue. |

Ahh. The GMT is more versatile than the sub as a general rule and the black dial GMT can go with any attire. Fairly easy choice if we aren't just picking our favorites. I feel like the blue sub is winning simply due to popularity.

The Blue Sub wins by a small margin; I just like the complement of gold and blue and it looks classy.

Not in the club yet, but it's funny how in watch collecting you should never say "I'd never wear that." When I got into watches 5 years ago I told a buddy I would never wear a solid gold watch. Now I would absolutely love to add one to the collection. Hopefully one day soon.
To be fair, my buddy said he would never wear an Omega, and it's pretty much his favorite brand now! |
