Stolen Rolex's prevention

I have read several posts of those unfortunate to have had their watches stolen. Just a thought, but it might help out others to post brief details of such thefts to help others avoid similar pain. Some have lost their first watches and sympathize with them, crime prevention techniques being passed to others may help..Some are going to be evident, but others may not.

Tip number 1

If you are over 50 yrs old and the girl is in her 20's she does not love you. She will take your watch and disappear.

if you are in a foreign country no matter what country it is... don't wonder around at 3am drunk.

happens a lot and thats when people get mugged and then the entire country is crime ridden by association.

90% of thefts are probably stupidity/risky behavior, the other 10% are wrong place, wrong time. They would steal your g shock too so it probably doesn't matter.

however since its an open ended question its going to devolve into topics that get the thread locked

Whatever you do, if you get approached, do not let a (reasonable) stranger try your rolex on .

i love it how a random guy on the street is a no no, but a random guy at the airport is fine. its probably the same random guy who asked earlier in town, and now he is going somewhere.

If you're in one of the many no-go zones in Europe, don't wear a Rolex. In Miami late at night.... or Brazil... or....

Of course if you're 50+, smatrly wear a fake and you could get lucky with a 20-something. Just fake drinking whatever she gives you and have a fun night.

Just because it looks nice. Don't leave your watches in a watchwinder sitting wide open in the closet. Because when your front door gets kicked in your watches will be stolen.

Twelve years later and I'm still waiting for Rolex to call me saying they have them.

Safest place for a watch is on the wrist (I don’t care what you are doing, and yes it is safe...).

Safest place is on your wrist. If you’re going somewhere where your watch is worth more than most peoples average income, and plan to leave the resort, a nice GShock or equivalent is probably a wise choice. I bought a fun colorful one for my trips abroad. It’s also a good choice for those that like to have a bit too much to drink when out and about alone.

Haha yes indeed. Being a fairly new member I was happy to get the inside joke/reference on this one too.

There is a lot of truth in the first sentence in the post above.
I don't wish anyone any harm but I have to chuckle to myself when I read a crime report and it starts out XYZ was robbed or worse at 3AM outside a club or bar. The reports about women going back to someone's room and disappearing with their watch or wallet are also amusing. If you take risks such as these, you exponentially increase the likelihood of becoming a victim.

Taken a lot of girls back to my room before. First thing I do is put my watch and wallet in the safe.

...However there was one time my phone did get snatched.

Crime prevention? Post your serial number on here. When someone google searches it, it'll pop up as TRF has get PR.

Spoken like a true victim, just kidding.

If you love her, buy her a Rolex so she will leave yours alone. Or am I being naive? I am still some years away from the half century mark.
