Jewelry Insurance
Anyone have a separate policy for just the watches and not under the home policy?
I’ve heard good things about Jewelers mutual, any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I use jewlers mutual. Have been for 6 years now on my 116520. Paying 215 a year. 0 deductible. Haven’t needed to make a claim so can’t comment on that process

I use JM as well. Modern Rolex models I have insured at MSRP (although there is plenty of debate here on getting insured at MSRP vs "market value" for hot watches) and vintage pieces at appraised values provided by a local jeweler/watch repairer.

I have a "Personal Articles" Policy. This is different from my home insurance, but with the same company (State Farm). Its quite reasonable, and they did not question a claim I just had with my watch. I looked into JM, and chose not to use them because they do not insure worldwide. I have no issues traveling globally with the policy I have.

Jewelers Mutual. The problem with having it on your homeowners policy is if you have a claim it can raise your other insurance rates.

Can you insure it for MSRP + tax? or just supposed to put MSRP?

I am sure that’s fine, especially if you have the receipts that show the tax paid as part of the purchase. My receipts don’t have tax amounts on them so I just listed the MSRP amounts I paid for each watch. |

They were not remotely competitive when I shopped them. For a watch or two, maybe. For a larger collection of jewelry, I wasn’t at all impressed. |

After 12 years I left JM, their rates and claim history forced me to look around. Ryder on my homeowners is not ideal and I was always of the mind home insurance and baubles should be protected separately. But times and attitudes change. I don't plan on making a claim, I'm fairly careful with my watches and god knows insurance is for the unforeseen so why pay 22% more for something I can't even imagine right now. If it does happen and my rates go up, so be it, I can live with that.
