England's World Cup Heat.

Now myself hate football period So a 1-0 win against the 4th best team in South America, the England wonder-team.Hopefully now all the tossers who have been hurtling around screaming that we are going to win the world cup, and waving there flags everywhere will now go back into there homes. But the over the top euphoria has really pissed me off, by them winning this game.Correction England did not "Win" this game, Paraguay lost it.One of the points of getting paid thousands of pounds per week as player or manager. Is so that you have the time to prepare for all circumstances and conditions.Did none of those tossers look at the average summer temperature in Germany.THIS IS THE BEST PREPARED ENGLAND TEAM EVER (SVEN GORAN ERIKSON)Obviously not bloody prepared for a sunny day in Germany.
That Sverige goon knows nothing about football or tactics, he is a con-artist,but likes the ladies,I always thought he was a poof.Indeed Sven Adult-books has no plan B, Beckham can only work with a set tactics, after that he just stands there scratching his arse.Hope they shape up for the next match and try to work as a team instead of running around like a bunch of pansies. Some of them should try to find out what it was like at Silverstone yesterday in the cockpit of a F1 car,now that was warm!,perhaps next time hold it in Bahrain its even warmer there.Bunch of overpaid tossers

Good post, Padi. England got lucky with that one. It was a sordid, lack-lustre affair which England should have easily won at least 4-0 with the huge potential of overpaid players they have in their arsenal.

They'll have to do better than this performance against the others. In any case, I don't see them going any further than the first round at most.

I feel for you mate. I don’t care much for football (Tour de France and F1 are my sports) but during these big events I watch every game the Dutch side plays (It’ll soon be over ). I recently calculated that some of these guys earn in excess of $60,000 a WEEK. Yes, a week. Earn is not the right word here. They receive it. It has nothing to do with envy, but who is that good to earn in a week that many aspire to earn in a whole year? Many clubs are getting into trouble, they cannot pay these outrageous but legally bound wages anymore. Many of our young players turn millionaire overnight and can’t handle it. At 19 or 20 they buy their first BMW M3 convertible, only to wreck it within 2 months. But the game is popular and important to many less fortunate and to them these guys are heros.

Agree with all the above points. Now i am a soccer-head and all the players are over-payed and some are over-rated.But is Tiger Woods worth the squillions he gets,or Federer worth what he gets payed. Its all about sponsors and the corporate dollars.Soccer is the world game and as a result the big $$$$$ flow.
Dont necessarily agree but.........

Now Rick never have been truer statement, all sport today is nothing but a big business and money. Its not sport today its just a huge money gravy train of those who are fortunate to be good at the big money spectator sports.

Now that Frans can agree with you, but your $60,000 a week is a little on the low side for some of the UK players.Beckham spends more than that on his hair,And buying very poor taste Jacobs watches, still some ars##les got to buy them.

The 20 highest-paid footballers, eight are members of English Premier League teams; seven play in Spain's Primera Liga; three in Italy's Series A, and two in Germany's Bundesliga.

Wayne Rooney started on £50,000 now on a estimated
£90,000 plus per week, plus tips, and has run up huge gambling
debts.Which he blames the bookmakers for allowing him to
run up such a huge £700,000,before telling him.

Now these annual earnings, makes you think how the poor dears manage.

Highest paid players football only wages.
David Beckham (£17m Wages).Plus Beckham's mega salary is boosted by advertising contracts of £12.5m per annum
Ronaldo (£13.3m) Plus tips.
Zinedine Zidane (£8.8m)
Christian Vieiri (£8.1m)
Alessandro Del Piero (£6.5m)
Frank Lampard (£6.4m)
Raul (£6.3m)
Thierry Henry (£6.2m)
John Terry (£5.8m)
Luis Figo (£5.7m)

But the highest paid sportsman is Tiger Woods (45 Million)
next Formula One Shoemaker (around 42 million) not sure if
Dollars or pounds, myself would happily have the difference.

It make me wonder how Mr. Backflam makes ends meet? But who's Tiger's employer? Or is it all sponsor, start- and prize money? Poor guy, and the price of petrol has gone up again

Well, lets not forget that Schumacher makes in excess of US$40 million a year on base salary, bonus and additional sponorship making him the highest paid athlete in the world.

Does he earn it? Not really, particularly given how extremely safe F1 is these days.

Does he deserve it? No. He can deliver the goods but his reputation as a lying cheat teaches children the wrong lessons in life and if I was a sponsor, I'd pull my cash as far from him as possible.

But he gets it... such is life.

What is it with these bleeding footballers now, anyone would think Roony was the only bloody player there, what about the other 10 overpaid posers on the field or are they there to cheer on Roony?

Then there's Beckham, (you remember him?) that over paid, over estimated now advertising TV model that won all the matches by himself.
Don't the rest of the bloody team matter anymore, if not why the fek did they ever go in the first place, Beckham and Rooney could beat every team single handed,if you listen to the press.

When are these so called English fans going to realise that it's a about bloody TEAM game and one Model alone just won't win sod all without the rest of them.Football ceased being a sport in the traditional sense about thirty years ago.The whole bloody thing's a huge great big marketing exercise now. Multi million pound pay packets, even bigger transfer fees and all funded by advertising and ever increasing gate fees. And now your average working class father and son can't even afford a ticket these days - Chelsea gate prices can often reach £100 a pop, before you even consider what an England home match might set you back.

And what about the price of tacky nylon replica kits (conveniently redesigned each year) not to mention plastic flags crap. Loyalty credit cards at ludicrous APRs and fan clubs peddling tat and crap in peoples' faces quicker than they can lap it up.But its Like a religion to some, but if they looked closer it's just a great big con. A bunch of jumped up primadonnas shafting the average man in the street for all he is worth.Boy do I hate bloody football. 'N abl fel alwedig dduwiau.

If the display against Trinidad and Tobago is the best England can do then they have absolutely no chance of lifting the trophy. It seems the players have picked up on the fans attitude that you can't win without Rooney. Prior to Rooney coming on they were bloody pathetic, the tosser he is he seemed to give them the boost they needed to win. If this is the case what happens when and if Rooney gets injured, perhaps golden balls will have to pull his finger out.

England should be grateful to Trinidad and Tobago for showing them the errors of there ways, because you will have to do a lot better than this showing. Being an unbiased Welshman and hate bloody football. I was forced into looking at the game over my sons. But I have to say I was almost falling asleep with bleeding boredom.

Now until the two England substitutions were made. If I were a future England opponent I would not be losing any sleep. The problem with the England team is the amount of talent they have on the park, but and still they under-perform.Perhaps this is down thinking they don't want to mess up there hair. And not look good on the Tele, and there dismal performance was like watching paint dry.Bet Brazil must be sh**ting themselves, over the prospects of meeting the English players, note I said players and not team.I'm now so fed up with this bloody football.

No matter where you go, what you buy or which channel you hop past, it's bloody football. (to our friends across the pond: soccer)

Why are we subjected to advertising and attempted indoctrination over and over again? Even the bloody supermarkets have fallen for it, and are now using the English team to market their wares.

Agreed, Padi...England fared miserably in that match right upto the 83rd minute when Crouch headed in their frist goal. Gerrard's second was a cracker though.

With that kind of play, England stand no chance against the likes of Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Portugal.

Only time and the next round will tell what surprises await us.

Meanwhile, back to football for me, Padi. Mexico play Angola in 15 minutes time - LIVE.

Cheers - JJ

In that list of overpaid "athletes" you cannot forget Shaquille O'Neill.
I believe his salary is a paltry $26 mill/year plus endorsements.
Now, if only I were born 7'2", 325 pounds and black
These guys pale in comparison to what Michael Jordan used to pull down in endorsements.
When MJ switched numbers on his jersey , there was a world wide shortage or red mesh fabric, as every possible factory was making MJ jerseys with his new number.
