Vanishing Socks.

Wondering why I can't find a pair of matching socks in my drawer...the bugger is full of single odd socks!

WTF is going on...do I have a phantom sock nicker in my wardrobe...When I complained to Mrs padi, she says it's the washing machine!

FFS a sock eating washing machine? I DON"T BLOODY BELIEVE IT!

Is it possible they are in a three dimensional world, or has Mrs Padi got a secret one legged lover?.Mine have been systematically vanishing to the sock black hole, for over 40 years. Unless they are in the packet they came in,I never see them again as a pair.

Some years ago I made a policy decision to buy only black socks, reasoning that I could always rely on making a pair. And farewell to odd socks, but it didn't work. Now there are lots of different shades of black, and the socks fade as they get washed anyway. I have a draw full of non-matching identical socks!.Thinking now about painting ones feet, and sod the socks.Maybe there's something in this mens sock conspiracy theory, anyone else have this problem.??

Oh boy do I I have gone to great lengths to avoid the missing sock curse. I've even tried rolling them together when I put them in the hamper to ensure they stayed together up until the wash, but no luck Now, when the weather is warm I just wear boat shoes, no socks required

I think Seinfeld did a bit about the one missing sock. Something along the line that one always escapes from the dryer, never to be seen again.

Since I do the laundry, my success rate is pretty good... but sometimes one disappears mysteriously.

Dang Peter, I thought to be clever too, with the black socks and with EXACTLY the same reasoning! And I have EXACTLY the same result! The older ones have shrunk a bit and turn a grayish black. And the number of pairs doesn’t make it easier as well. But socks are dead cheap nowadays, 5 pairs for 4.99 or something. I also bought a couple of expensive pairs, to go with suits. They seem to last longer but I wear ‘em less often so that’s the clue.

Never seem to have this problem, Padi. Just fold them neatly together and place them in the drawer next to my fresh underwear and singlets. They take care of each other!!

Mine are "reasonably okay". I keep those single socks for one extra round of laundry, then out they go.
My daughters socks on the other hand, She might as well wear a new pair every day. She has a whole bucket of single socks. Now , if she were older I would be asking many many questions.

I some times wonder JJ, if you read the same message in posts as the rest of us, or a different one. From your answer I gather you never wash and dry your socks, you just put 'em back in the drawer Still regard you as one of the nicests persons I have the good fortune to know!

Well, Frans, thanks for the kind words, but without sounding too obvious, there was an undertone of seriousness to my post.

I cannot for the life of me understand how you guys can get all your socks mixed up. After washing and drying, all you do is merely fold them together in matching pairs and stack them neatly in your drawer. Now WTF is so damn hard about that, tossers?

NOTE: The key word in that statement above is NEATLY!! Get organized, tossers....don't depend so much on the poor wifey!!

Its what happens to the Little blighter's,on route from ones feet to laundry basket/ washing machine/washing-line/ironing all done by Mrs Padi.Myself have not mastered these domestic skills other that using the vacuum cleaner. Then on route back to draw, never seem to get all the pairs back.So perhaps Mrs padi was right, about the washing machine eating socks. But I bloody don't believe it

To be honest Frans would have no idea even how to switch the washing machine on.And if I am honest don't want to learn, can just about handle the Vac cleaner. And thats as far as I want to go in domestic skills, for one lifetime.

I have a theory, and the women are going to hang me out to dry, lol, on this one.
I think they ladies doing the laundry are getting back at us , for no apparent reason.
They throw one of each of our socks out & blame it on the Bermuda Triangle ( washing machine - dryer - laundry hamper). They think they are being clever, but I am onto my wife.
Have a tiny spat, poof, one sock goes missing. Coincident??? I think Not.
