This is why you can't find a watch, anywhere...
I was reading a story in the NYTimes about making yourself scarce and less available for jobs, negotiation, etc. and I came across this section, which I think applies very well to the current SS Rolex shortage.

The scarcity factor is strong in the watch game right now. It’s working well. Doubt it will change anytime soon.

It’s an interesting theory but only operates to the strategist’s advantage when there are no suitable alternative choices that can perform the same function.
When shaping your own unique advantages in crafting career strategies, perhaps a feather’s worth of weight to your advantage on the scales of comparison to other candidates. Ergo, applying the strategy by Rolex gains them nothing. They were already selling their production at full capacity. But it could benefit any sales slump at Tudor. The AD’s who carry both have a slick pivot if they are savvy. “Have you seen the latest Tudor models that are made by Rolex?” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Funny that Panerai makes small runs of their references. For example, I have a PAM305 which is now discontinued in favor of the 1305 which has an improved movement. I see no hype on the "MK1" version and my 305 hasn't increased in value (if it has any) since the new version was released.

“What the scarcity principle says is that people are more attracted to those options or opportunities that are rare, unique or dwindling in availability"...
This is why I used to stay in bars until closing time and the women were getting more and more desperate. I'm guessing the "dwindling in availability" probably fit my circumstances better than rare or unique. |

Wouldn’t work where I live. Everyone expects you to work like a dog and sacrifice your life, family and soul while they dangle the carrot. If you make yourself scarce you make yourself unemployed.
