Best Black Sub to add to my collection?

Currently I have the blue Yacht and polar explorer II pictured below and looking at a none ceramic black sub. Pretty sure I like the no date for its cleaner appearance, I liked the engraving below the bezel in the new 07 08 model but the 4 line sure looks like a cluster or is it just me?

Look forward to hearing input from you guys.

Check out the Z serial with engraved rehaut. IMO one of the best they have made and I have collected subs for 20 years. Gold version on my wrist in profile photo but it does have date.

I see you have posted a mix of dates vs no-dates; Traditionally if money is at all involved with your purchase in mind a no-date is usually the best bet/overall classic sub.

Imo, if you are going for an engraved rehault I would go for a modern ceramic for the better bracelet. Z & M serials are a good range if you must have those options listed for a 5 digit.

I had the SubC and got rid of it, didn’t fit my wrist properly and prefer the fit and classic look of the pre ceramic.

You might also want to try on/check out the 16600 Sea-Dweller. Classic lines with a bit of extra heft, and a date window but not intrusive due no cyclops. I was looking at 5-digit Subs and the fit/look/history of the 16600 really grabbed me.

Best 5 digit black sub , don't forget to add the 16800 matte dial to the mix . Last of the matte dial subs, but still a serious daily wearer contender even today

For me a date is key, so the choice is clear. If you don’t need one, get the nodate. I am not if the thinking that the addition of the date changes the appearance of the watch appreciably so even if you would use the date sometimes, get the 16610.

Yep.

Two lines good. Four lines bad.

Go for the 14060M (two Line).

Best Black Sub to add to my collection?

There’s a big divide on 2 line and 4 line, there’s as many on here that prefer one to the other....totally a personal taste, both look good to me....the 2 line just shades it for me, simple clean....just set the time and go, no need to set the date if it’s stopped...just my view on it. I have the 14060M 2 line....although it has the 2 line dial, it has the certified movement of the 4 line certified dial.....best of both worlds!

I like the 14060 with tritium to give you the patina. If you need/want a date, I would look for a 16800 like the one above. Love that patina!

Is it the photo or is the crown guard bigger on one side vs the other?

For me the sub needs the cyclops as it gives it that distinctive look.
But each to there own.

Interesting. I have never noticed that, so I assume it's just the angle of the photo. Let me look later and get back to you.

I am currently looking at a Z Serial with engraved rehaut.
Very interested in your comment that this reference is one of
the best they have made.
I would be grateful if you could provide a little more information to help with my considerations.
Also have seen a Z series 2 liner, and wonder if you can help with an opinion on this version too.
Many thanks.

2 liner is the best IMO. So clean. But any 5 digit no date sub in great shape is a worthy adversary.

The 16610 and the 16710 are still “the” Rolex watches to own in my book.

I personally like the two liner. I picked this 2007 Z serial a few months ago and love the clean look.

Your other watches have date windows on them. I would miss the date window on any new watch. Just my two pennies.
