"Interesting" offer...

I have a watch that I put on eBay (Kobold Seal Ti) and have gotten some very interesting offers.

One guy wanted to pay me more than I was asking if I used a particular escrow service and that's the only way he would pay. Of course he had "issues" with eBay's only recommended escrow service, as well as with Paypal, wire transfers, cashier's checks, etc. Sketchy dude.

But this one takes the cake: "Hello I am very interested in trading for this watch. This is what I have to offer: 1. $1500 LNIB Oris F1 day/date watch, automatic on bracelet, carbon fiber dial 2. $595 Konstantino 18k gold/ss cufflinks 3. $510 Asprey mens wallet bifold with coin pocket 4. $460 BRAND NEW Bottega veneta mens bifold with coin pocket 5. $390 Konstantino blue lapis cufflinks 6. $385 used bottega patchwork mens bifold cufflinks 7. $400 cash the total value of my offer is around $3000-$3200. Please take my offer into consideration."

Yeah, could you throw in 5 wire hangers, some wooden nickels, and a case of condensed milk? Geez, eBay is fun...

Hey hey now, I sell on ebay and do good business. Yeah, there are some idiots on there, but overall it gets your items in front of the entire world at a very reasonable cost.

As far as the escrow example - it is a known fraud, definitely stay away!

Definitely stayed away from that escrow service. I think it was called albany financial just in case someone runs into it.

eBay has warts but also has good people on it - I've bought a few small $ items there. A few bad apples out there though so have to be careful.

Do not use escrow, rip off waiting to happen.

Where do these people come from??? I swear, every time I try to sell something on eBay, no matter how benign, I get similar "offers". I am to the point that I only sell stuff on eBay that I can't get rid of any other way. I have even begun giving things I think people can use to Goodwill for the tax break. Doesn't put any cash in my pocket, but how much $$$ is a headache and a pain in the a** really worth?
