Do AD keep the extra links?
I read somewhere this is a practice some ADs due given an extra link they can get a few hundred bucks for. I bought a watch about 1 year ago and it fit perfectly. But now I think to myself well.. I don’t have the biggest wrist what if I had a fatter wrist there’s no way Rolex just makes it like this. Then again I am average sized wrist.. so my guess is they pocket the e TRS links and unless you say something or have a wrist that doesn’t fit their default watch they keep them. Thoughts?

Never heard of this before; any AD I bought from included the removed links after sizing.

This - New watch bracelets are always fully linked and then sized for your wrist. The removed links are yours and returned in a tiny plastic bag.

I’ve never heard of an AD keeping the extras. There may be a shady sales person that might, but the expectation is that you keep the extra links. In fact, best practice is for resellers and secondhand sellers would likely disclose to the buyer they don’t have full links.

Its fairly simple to check if you have the correct no of links.
The model no of your watch and type of bracelet and you can look at the service manual to see how many removable links there should be.

Absolutely not. Always take your links post sizing.

Outrageous if the AD kept your extra link(s)! Maybe check in the box under the watch pad or in the top sleeve.

Absolutely not.
If you have your watch resized, count how many links they take out, and make sure they give them to you. They’re absolutely not supposed to keep the links because they are yours and expensive as hell. |

A Milgauss bracelet should have 6 removable links.

No AD in their right mind will ever risk their reputation and investment in their Rolex AD status and relationship with their new customer by keeping/stealing links from new buyers.
If you bought the watch new, and you think there are links missing, chances are they are in your watch box.

Edit- this doesn’t include the 2 polished center links connected directly to thecwat h so then that would be 14 |

FYI, the ones connected to the watch are called 'end links'. The end link on each side is attached to 3 non-removable links (total of 6 links with no screws.) See this example. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=682426

If you tried it on before buying it and it fit then, then you probably have all the links and it just coincidentally fit you. Rolex bracelets aren't super-long to begin with, and folks with bigger wrists often have to buy an extra link or two.
But, yeah, just compare yours with the pic above to be sure. You absolutely should have been given any links that were removed. |

An AD keeping ANY links off of a watch someone buys is ABSURD.
The only way (in my mind) that a watch could potentially come from an AD without all of the links is if it was a trade in. Just my .02 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Do AD keep the extra links?
No, both watches I purchased at an AD that got sized, the extra links were returned to me. Have never heard of any ADs keeping extra links. Unless they were 2nd hand and there are no extra links to give you

Speaking as an old (ancient, actually) and happily-retired Rolex AD, I never kept any client's links. And I always made sure that he/she understood that the links I removed were in a small zip-lok bag under the box cushion.
Several times, over the years, I had folks request that I stored the removed links in my walk-in safe and I always told them to keep the links in their safe-deposit box in the bank that was in our small-time town. Occasionally, I dumped crapola Rolexes and Tudors to gray dealers in Portland. It is my understanding that the grays happily accepted the links for storage and quickly sold them for several hundred dollars each. Not my problem. Anyway, any legitimate AD will INSIST that you keep your bracelet links. Blessings, Steve |

It has happened in the past. I know Tourneau used to keep extra links if you don’t ask.

I bought a watch last week and was worried they would keep the links. I didn't even ask, they put the extra links in the box right in front of me.
