Incoming! Panerai 1616 carbotech submersible.
Initally i wanted to buy the 960 thinking that it should better fit my 6.5 inch wrist. but after tried on both the 42mm 960 and 47mm 1616, the 960 looks small and kind of lacking the panerai DNA. The 1616 were not as big as i thought, may be the black carbotech colour just make the watch looks smaller. besides, the 1616 got the in house movement so that's my final choice.
you guys might think the 1616 is too big for my wrist, but for asian its kind of cool, haha! |

Nice, but big for your wrist I think though. Am considering the 42mm 683 as I feel the size fits better I. My wrist and I don’t think the smaller size loses the Panerai DNA. They have done a good job on the new line of submersibles. I think they should have made a 44mm in the line up with ceramic bezel as well.

thank you all! the watch is super light compared to my 524. and the box has quite strong smell of plastic though.

Yes, yes! The watch is stunning. The Panerai Carbotech is a game changer in my collection. Nothing wears as comfortable, bold and tough. A high end automatic dive watch that you don’t have to fuss over to avoid scratches and dings.
Feels like a flat black LaFerrari on your wrist from a style perspective. I have not been able to wear a traditional metal watch since. For those that don’t know what Carbotech is: Carbotech is a Panerai exclusive carbon fiber laminated type of material that is scratch resistant as ceramic but stronger than steel. Hypoallergenic and doesn’t conduct heat or cold. Besides being more comfortable and light weight, it also doesn’t transmit extreme temperatures to the movement which enhances performance. It truly is modern technology enhancing a high quality in-house automatic movement. My Pam 661 with cal9010 movement has kept a +1 second a day in every position and going from extreme hot to cold water on dives. Mine has been on 6 dives and looks brand new. |

My favorite material but
Quote:
Thanks for info every website I looked at even panerais website they are very generic on material as far as durability. My concern would be if the material starts breaking down for example changing the straps all the time or can it be used for every day. I know AP had a problem with there cf material as where older models corners weren't as sharp. |

The Carbotech has to use spring bars for strength as a threaded lug could strip out from over torquing. This is true with ceramic as well and a better system as Rolex exclusively still uses them. Like all lugs with spring bars, I recommend using blue painters tape and taping the lugs when popping the spring bars out. I use my Carbotech Pam everyday, all the time now. It has spoiled me with metal watches. |

So I went to try the 683 back on and have to apologise to Rambo99 as I said his Carbotech was maybe a bit big on his wrist. I initially thought the 683 was right but looking back at pics and trying the 1389 on I actually think the 47mm is a better fit. What do you think?
Compared to the 42mm 683 Also tried on another 47mm |
