AP gold colour

Hi All,

Has anyone with two Rose gold pieces noticed a difference in the colour of the gold between the two? Does it get lighter the longer it is owned?

Yes. happens to almost all rose gold watches asides from Rolex

ive seen some fairly faded looking "everose" despite the clever marketing name. Oystersteel is also not made from real oysters

The gold in AP watches is 18 carat which means that it is only 75% pure gold, the other 25% is made up of other metals which give the gold its particular shade - silver (which oxidises over time) is one of the metals which is often added and copper is another. If you are noticing a difference in the appearance of the gold it is most likely because one watch is older than the other.

If you (for example) have a 5 year old 15400 in gold on a strap and decide that you want to add the gold bracelet, it’s likely that when to speak to AP to place the order they will ask you how old the watch is because they know that there is a likelihood that the new gold bracelet won’t be an exact match against the 5 year old case.
