NYC Vacation

Well, I posted a few days ago about a Mexican Riveria vacation but have decided we will be going to NYC this summer instead. I realize there are a lot of things to do there and have came up with: broadway show, yankees game, Ground Zero, Letterman Show. What else should be on the list of things that need to be done on a trip to NYC, and where are the good eats?

Visit the Rolex Service Center on 5th Avenue of course! Customer service is on the 5th Floor and is worth the little trip. Also head to Tourneau on 7th Avenue and 34th Street I believe. Great window always chock FULL of Rolex models.
See the Statue of Liberty for sure. Central Park for a rowboat ride. Bronx Zoo of you have a car.

Brandon what food you looking for?? I know a great restaurant where you can pig out..or maybe a fine dining one...you love japanese food?

Places that are NYC landmarks, from street carts to sandwich shops to great fine dining.

I would recommend you a lunch at Oysterbar followed by martinis at tavern on the green in Central park and dinner at Peter Luger best steakhouse ever.

I was raised in NYC, manhattan and lived there until i was 32. IMHO you MUST, MUST!! Take a helicopter Tour of the city. It is worth the money, seeing how dense, and large the city is from that altitude is really the best way to get your head around the place!! ITs amazing.
Ride the subways (they are safe) and definitely see Queens, and Brooklyn. Ride the 7 train from midtown all the way past Shea Stadium take it back and stop at 45st Court House square and see PS1 MOMO and Silver Cup Studios. The 7 train passes through the old worlds fair expo site, flushing tennis grounds (us open)
The Lower East Side is very interesting and they have some walking tours.
Morning Side Park
Have Lunch at Sylivia's in Harlem and check out the area they have some great historical sites and tours up there. Its changed quite a bit.
SOHO to NOLITA is a nice walking day

"TOP of the ROCK" is pretty cool to see.

Eats: Really Depends what you want? I was never much of a foodie, I can tell you where to stay away from.

Honestly speaking here, NYC is much more than mid-town (times sq, broaday) in fact much of its charm, appeal, and interesting sights are NO WHERE near that stuff. as a new yorker, I would avoid those areas for years on end. Venture out a bit after you hit the "required stuff" and you will get a good feel for the city.
Cafeteria in Chelsea is a great place to eat (open 24hrs) best Mac-n-cheese ever there!!

Also there are incredible hotel deals right now in the Old Meat Packing District. thats a great place to stay and better area for eating. Prime Cut is a good steak place. Back of the Ritz Carlton on 57th (old st moritz hotel)

Toss up between Lugers (bring cash, no cc accepted) and Sparks.

Carnegie's Deli is good for lunch, can't remember exactly where it's at but close to 7th Ave. and 55th.
