Recommendation for a home security DVR?
I have a 4-camera Lorex DVR at home that I hate. It is linked to my phone but loses its connection every 3 months or so. I then have to contact Lorex for technical support.
I absolutely detest this company. They never correct the problem the first time, disconnections with tech support happen more frequently that an entire conversation stays connected, I can barely understand the support techs, I could go on. Did I mention I hate Lorex?! I am not tech savvy. Does anyone have a system that is user friendly they can recommend? I absolutely hate Lorex. |

I'm leaning towards Ring doorbell. Just waiting for good deals.

Because the SkyBell you don’t have to pay the monthly payments or monthly charge and the rings there is a charge and also the SkyBell you can remove your old doorbell and connect the two wires to the SkyBell the rings I think it’s only wireless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I currently use Arlo as one form of cameras for my home. I like the ease of use within the home since they can be moved around easily.
The one complaint I have is they are not constantly streaming when on the app, which I suppose is to save battery life since they are wireless. I find the battery life lasts about 6 months between charges depending on how often they are set off. You do get notifications etc when motion is detected and can view a small sample recording but you must click on each individual camera to view live streams. All this being said for the cost I think it's pretty good and I never lose connection. You can also set an alarm to go off with motion or set it off manually from the app. Feel free to PM me if you want any more specific details.

Never researched the Skybell but one feature of the Ring I like is the extended doorbell you can plug into any outlet. For instance if I am in my pool I can clearly hear the doorbell from my patio where the extender is plugged in. I also have one in my upper floors which is nice.

I said “screw it” and went with Nest. Driveway camera, Nest Hello doorbell, 1 indoor camera, 2 thermostats, and 7 smoke/CO2 alarms. $100 per year for cloud recording sucks but it’s convenient and reliable. Super convenient having it all in one app.
They don’t tie in with our home alarm, but that turns out to be a plus. The calls from the alarm company every time a battery got low was too intrusive. Nest is in the expensive side compared to all the alternatives but quality and reliability are tops.

- It has a delay and non reliable motion detection system - If the above is true you can miss much needed footage rendering the system somewhat useless - Battery doesn't last as long as advertised in an outdoor high traffic area - Not as good as advertised for outdoor durability Now I am thinking about just adding a ring/skybell in lieu

If Nest might as well look at Wyze. I have both, similar enough,
other than the insanely cheaper price of Wyze. |

I went with Swann 4K power over ethernet cameras/dvr about 4 months ago. I haven't needed customer support yet, but so far I'm satisfied.
