Explorer ii 16570 Current Value?

I have the opportunity to buy a near mint condition Polar explorer ii with box and papers for $9200 AUD ($6300 USD)

Just hoping to get some opinions as to whether this is a good move?

It is a 2001 P serial with SEL and lug holes

Thanks!

On today's market that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

If you feel happy about it, go for it. Can't go wrong with Exp II 16570. I did 4 years ago, and I'm very happy with mine.

I am very keen to join the explorer club. what variation did you go for? I also have the option of getting a cheaper deal on a great condition tritium dial model but think the SEL and newer build justify the higher price. what are your thoughts?

So that would be around €6k, not too bad for a minty one.

Provided everything is right, you are slightly below current low retail numbers. If it has been serviced, even better! Post photos here, for peace of mind.

Mine is Z serial. Got it for a good price 4 or so years ago. Price has been steadily climbing and this is a solid model reference. I just prefer the later builds with SEL, so I personally will go for it even if it is higher price, if I am looking for one now.

My polar was $2900 in 2017 P serial watch head only.
Perfect travel watch beater price.
Cosmetically it was not perfect but no serious issues.
Times certainly have changed quickly.

Well if it is a P serial, approx 2001 production year, it must have been serviced. If not, you are looking down the barrel of a service from the RSC, if so chosen of $1,000 USD.
If serviced, when and by whom? Has the watch been polished? Is it gaining or losing time each day? Some resellers may be able to give a 12 month warranty on the movement, etc. Being bought from dealer or individual?
These are all questions I want to know.
I bought a D serial a few weeks ago, very happy with it. It is a great size and comfy.
But check above out. Good luck.
