Finally Got My Grail Watch [15202 Jumbo]

Hi friends! I've been a huge fan of the Royal Oak ever since I first saw one close to 15 years ago. I decided earlier this year that it was finally time for me to add one to the collection. There are currently three different sizes in production, and because the watches are so in demand right now, it's not easy to try the various sizes/models on at any boutiques or AD's. (Hence why I created this comparison post with photos between the three models).

Initially, I thought the 37mm model would be right for me, so I picked up a 15450 earlier this year, with the 41mm 15500 following a few months later. I finally realized that the ideal size for my wrist and preferences would be in between the two. Thus, the hunt began for the 39mm 15202, which is also the closest ancestors to the original Royal Oak 5402 that launched in 1972. I spent a while tracking down one that met my conditions and finally picked this one up just in time for my 30th birthday. It's the perfect size/weight and has this vintage charm to it despite being a modern reference. Take care!

P.S. – Please no messages or DM's about how much I paid :)

Wow

I owned one for a few months and loved, the non quick set date in the end proved too much for me.

Of all the watches I've flipped, it's my biggest regret.

That’s how it’s done! Big congrats on the only watch that really matters...IMO anyway.

Non quick set date drove me nuts until I decided to entirely forget about setting the date. Winding the watch and setting the time is a big enough pain.

Agree on winding as well, I felt the crown would come off one day...

I can’t leave the date alone, OCD.

Not sure how someone could own this type of watch and not actually use its features? That just seems odd to me. These are the reasons I cannot get on board with the 15202, I would never reach for it, too much work to set it. 5712 is enough work with date and moonphase, I do not need another project in the morning when I decide to throw it on.

Gorgeous watch and looks great. Who cares what you paid. If you got your grail and it makes you happy, that is what counts. Life is short. And you can't count pennies after you are dead.
