To buy OP now or to wait ???
Hi Guys!
I am new on this forum. Got interested in Rolex watches lately because I have only quartz watches (AP Royal Oak "Mini", Ebel Classic Lady) that are always due for service and are now kind of outdated. My AD is holding for me for a couple of days a black OP 34 (the size that fits best my small wrist). My question for you is: Should I buy now or wait for the new movement ??? I know, I know, this question comes regularly ! Sorry Guys ! I am looking forward to reading your answers. Many thanks in advance. Best regards. |

What makes you think there will be a new movement? You could be waiting 10 years or more. Buy it

Buy now. There’s no guarantee when new movement will come.
On a semi related OP note, my wife has the OP 31 for everyday wear and loves it. The white dial, blue numerals, and white gold crown and markers is a beautiful configuration. She gets compliments almost every time she wears it. It’s a hard configuration to find. She looked for months across the Middle East and parts of US before finding one. It’s not as small on as it seems in pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you really want the OP, I’d suggest you buy it because the watch is already here and you can enjoy wearing it immediately.
As was said, no guarantee on new movement and availability if you wait. These are crazy times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I were in your shoes, I’d buy it. The 31xx movement is a workhorse.
There is no telling that a new movement will arrive next year. “A bird in hand is better than two in the bush” |

Buy now. Could be years before OP34 gets a new movement , and personally I don’t think the new movements being introduced are THAT much better that it merits waiting for them.

As we all know, women get compliments, from other women, on pretty much everything they wear. It's like sport for men, a form of bonding, although it's also because women are generally much nicer (if sometimes insincere with their compliments).

whats the point of waiting for a new movement? current movements are good enough. at best, you will get a bit more PR. rolex wont put amazing new features on an OP.
thats the kind of watch that you buy for the design and feel. if you want more features, buy an omega. |

I sincerely apologise if I offended you. That wasn't my intention. I was merely saying that in my experience one does well not to read too much into some things. This is one such occasion. Perhaps you feel differently.
It's a lovely watch, in any case. |

Unless I’m mistaken, the model you’re looking at had not date function so unlikely there would be a movement update like they did with the DJ. Only reason to wait is if you want to see if they have more dials released in 2020. But if the dial now is your preferred combination anyways, no need to wait.

If you really like the watch, you should get it. The minimal changes a newer model might bring, and we don't know when that would even happen, won't diminish the watch you'll be wearing and enjoying on your wrist.

If you are in a position to buy, I would go ahead and do it now. |

If you're ready to get the OP 34 then I say go for it. There's nothing wrong with the current 3130 movement to hold out for the not yet released 3230.
Here's a link to an article speaking about the technical differences to maybe help make a decision. http://bhi.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/...-the-Month.pdf If you find yourself ok with holding off for a few months, then see what happens after Baselworld 2020 (late May-early April). If the new version is revealed for the Oyster Perpetual line it will be several more months until it's available. You can buy a great watch now and enjoy, or wait a few months to see what comes of the show next year and then wait at least 3-4 more months. I'm not trying to push you in either direction just laying out the typical timeframe of things so you know. Only you can be sure if the wait is worth it. Either way you'll end up with a great lifetime watch. :-) |
