Hi, Could anybody Identify this Vintage Rolex that my GrandFather gave me. He purchased it Pre 40's. I would be very grateful for your help, and may want to sell it. Thankyou very much. For added info, below the 12 and the Crest it say's Rolex, above the 6 it's say shock resisting, below the 6 it says swiss made in the right light the second hand is blue. Once again many thanks. Nobody can really tell you anything useful from those photos........

Well, except that it's a modern box with an old watch of some type in it..

If it is the one I am thinking of (you need better pictures) I have seen one a it belonged to a friend of mine it had came from his dad. I have pictures on my other drive but not this one. I wish I could be of more help right now. This one had some bad strap on though. When I looked it up about 8 months ago it was going for around 1,200-1,800. his dated back to I think 1953 and His dad bought it after he came back from the Korean War. Manual wind I think it was 17 jewels.

sure look like a nice watch and with the history of your grandpa I would sure wear it with pride.

If my Grandfather gave me a timepiece, which he has, there is no way in hell I would sell it. It would stay with me to the day I die. Just my two cents.

Just have a look between lugs for model ref, and possible serial number pictures are very poor is the watch gold, gold filled, S.steel etc.

The one I was thinking of is the 6294 but that had a date, so not sure what this is.

Did you check between the lugs like suggested?

X2. I doubt it's worth very much, but that's not the point. Even if it was worth a ton, why anyone would get rid of a gift from their grandfather is beyond me (assuming of course said individual had even a halfway decent relationship with his grandfather). Now, if the guy beat you on a daily basis, that's another story...
