Requesting a Watch From Multiple ADs
I'm looking to buy an SS DJ 41 from an AD (not the blue one). Since even these watches are becoming difficult to obtain, is it acceptable to put down my name for the watch at multiple ADs to increase my chances of getting the watch quickly?
Also, is it true that Rolex isn't shipping out any stock until the middle to end of February? |

Who would know - but you - if you put your name down at multiple ADs? Unless the AD is a chain and actually records their lists in a central DB vs each sales rep keeping her/his own list.
I think only Rolex knows the answer to your February question. |

If the dealer you normally go through won't specifically order one for you then it seems fine to put your name down at multiple dealers. Once you get one, call the other(s) to let them know.
Rolex is closed in Geneva for another week or two, so shipments will go out as soon as they open. End of February sounds late for receipt. I would guess we'll start seeing watches again before the end of January. |

I put my name down at three AD’s (who I had previously purchased watches from) for the SD43 when it first came out. So far I have bought two of them and still awaiting the third one. I don’t flip these; I currently wear one, one is in the safe and will be joined there by the last one when it arrives - whenever that may be.

Yeah - seems fair in my opinion. Just like when a watch comes in they don't have to sell it to you.
The transaction is a two way street. |

If a DJ cannot be ordered why not ask multiples ADs. My AD said after Rolex opens in a week or so he Hope's to get some word on deliveries. Hopefully things may change as far as ordering a DJ. Mine was an allocated piece a year ago but was able to be ordered and came in four weeks.

Absolutely no harm. Just take your name off the other places when you get the call from whoever is first

Used to be you would buy a DJ from the secondary market at a discount. Searching for 126334 on C24 after the first page and a half everything is above MSRP out of 16 pages.

If you shop one ad ,you shop hat in hand .
If you shop multiple ADs,you want the DJ. |

I personally think they are going to be a sound long term investment. They may not be the next Comex but I do think they will increase significantly in money over the next 20 years or so.
I wear one and the others will remain in the safe for a rainy day. |

When I bought my blue dial DJ41 I put down $1,000 and got a receipt with the exact watch I was buying on the receipt. Better than a verbal agreement that I'm on some mysterious list. If I didn't want the watch I could get my deposit back, but of course I wanted the watch. And holding my money provided them an obligation to get me the watch and showed I was a serious buyer and that I only was doing business this this AD. While some may say they would never put down a deposit, I think it was far better than being on a 'list' and I did get the next blue dial that came in. At that time the blue dial was an allocation piece, it may still be. Putting your name on multiple AD lists should get you a watch, but if you find value in establishing a relationship with one AD, why not get something in writing and secure a purchase from that AD?
